Shirley and Hentschel would be certain omissions. Begley v Doughty v Ladhams for the other. Has anyone seen this weeks SANFL teams? (South or Sturt's in particular)

McGregor at CHF is interesting. I would've thought it'd be either Carey or Perrie there. Are we trying to stretch Carlton's defence with a tall forward line?

They said on 5AA that Hentschel is in the Eagles side. They said nothing about Shirley. Torney has a suspect groin and Shirley could be his replacment.

I don't know why everyone is picking on Ladhams. I re-watched the Melbourne game today and kept a close eye on Ladhams. He played a good game. He spent a bit more time on the ball and got a few good clearences used the ball well and managed to kick one goal himself. Why is everyone saying he is out of form? He is just playing a different position which means he will not kick as many goals as we would like.

Why drop Begley??????

Indeed. And I see Johncock and Welsh as the only two certainties of that seven.

Re Ladhams & Begley... Ladhams was dropped only a few games ago and has hardly set the world on fire since his return - he's capable of a lot more IMO. And Begley has dropped off a bit after two brilliant first up games with his new club.

Hmmm... just as it looked like we were getting close to full strength. :(

Even then I don't know why you'd choose Shirley as his replacement. Drop him and Hentschel from the squad and take the other 23.

Since when?
Since yesterdays training session. he left the track early and Ben Hart said he had some tightness in his groin and will be given every chance to prove his fitness by sunday.

Ladhams was dropped for round 10 match. He got back into the side for the Hawthorn game and was one of our better players. Agaist Melbourne he was good without being brilliant. He is capable of better but there is at least 4 players that should get dropped before him. Ladhams' last two games have been good. Scott Welsh on the other hand has had a couple of ordinary games lately. His match against Geelong was good but his last two were shockers by his standards. ;)

I disagree. Ladhams was lively in the first quarter and nowhere to be seen after that. I don't see how he could be ahead of an established player like Scott Welsh in the pecking order.

Tough choice, but I would be leaning towards Begley, who has been quietish since his 1st couple of games. Dogga was good when he got the opportunity last game & Ladhams is needed to backup Burns who will be a little underdone.

I think Hulme will get McLeod, McGregor will get McKernan and Smart will get Whitnall. McKay has played on Roo before. Burton Vs. Camporeale is a bit of a worry:( :( :( :( :( :(

To be honest I am not sure if Stinga is the man for Kouta.:( Smart or Hart might get Kouda

I agree Hulme will get McLeod when he is on the ball, but I would start Macca as a forward coming off the surgery & hopefully drag Hulme out as a backman.

McGregor is our best CHB & should play there regardless of who Carlton's CHF is for the sake of our best structure. Smart is capable of playing on McKernan.

McKay wjilst handy is not the player he used to be to play on the ball. May only pick up Roo, when Roo is playing up forward.

Birdman v Campo would be a very entertaining dual.

I see Stinga lining up on Fletcher and Smart getting Kouta. However I wouldn't mind seeing Biglands take the first quarter on Kouta with Clark on the ball. I'd love to see how Biglands would take to the task as he hasn't often been given a particular job.

Also wouldn't mind seeing Stenglien given a bit of rope. Must be very depressing being given the label as a tagger and given a task week in week out. Let the kid go for it for a week and see how he goes. I reckon he'd surprise.

Apart from that I can't see too many worries for this game. We match up pretty well, in particular our defence seems to suit up perfectly.

Biglands will never get that task. He would get absolutely flogged trying to look after an athlete like Kouta.

I would start Stinga on Kouta because of his height and aerobic capacity plus being a designated stopper.

I agree RE Biglands. Stinga might get Camporeale.

I agree with you young Stiffmeister.

I thought Ladhams was good against Melbourne - how quickly people forget.

As for Begley, he has had the one poor game. The rest have been good to very good. He has just spent less time on the ground in the last couple of weeks but he's been good when he's been on.

If Torney doesn't play, Shirley should be a shoe-in to play. I think it was last year that he tagged the living b'jesus out of Camporeale and gave him a hiding to boot in terms of possessions.

McGregor should definitely be at CHB - the spot he's made his own this year and last. Perrie to start at CHF and Carey at FF and possibly rotate during the game.

I agree. Shirley is a logical replacement for Torney. I thought he did well for the time he was on the ground. His physical attack on the ball and a man was very good. Shirley on Camporeale is a good match up. He beat him convincingly a couple of years ago.

How many goals has Welsh kicked since he's been back? And what games were they in?

I've been a bit disappointed with him, still, he must be doing something right!

My point re Biglands is that he doesn't do enough around the ground and spending a quarter against someone like Kouta might give him a lesson about the workrate required when he's not tapping the ball.
