Great coaches aren't great forever, otherwise Sheedy and Matthews would still be coaching. Everyone has a used-by date. The stubbornness, the unwillingness to drop underperforming senior players and the unwillingness to change a game plan that is so obviously out of date are worrying signs.

If our players really are just sh*t then Clarkson not being able to recognize this is just as worrying.

Before we had a game plan that helped elevate our players. Now we have one that hinders them.
Wtf mate so the game plan in the first half was something else? We got smashed in the middle again it always starts there. You really dont have a clue seriously your view of this club is now blinded by your obsession of wanting to see so called younger players play. You have lost your objectivity and reacting with emotion. Out dated game plan we shouldn't have been 5 goals up then. The plan is always always only as good as the players executing it

Boy am I glad Wingard was out there today! Love our superstar!!!!!
Midfield got absolutely torched and your first post is to pot Wingard.

It's getting really tired.

Mitchell is god awful. Give him the rest of the year off.
Someone was surprised I “only gave Mitchell a pass” on another thread. I didn’t see the game but it seems to have been a common observation of today’s game. Not concerned about Mitchell, we know he can play.

Of much greater concern is Paton.
Even if best case is calf injury, this recruitment is looking a bust . We’re committed now to a quite a few players which have questionable value to the team. Will be many years to recover from.

I'd argue we're in the position we're in because of the quality of list rather than the direction of our coaching. I honestly think it's as simple as that.
I respectfully disagree with you
Respectfully as a long term poster who I’ve enjoyed reading over the years
But I’m actually seriously over Clarkson at the moment
His performance this year has been putrid

Said it at the time, several times since and for the final time now - the Wingard trade was a massive fail. The guy just does not care about football - this is fact, and what drove Port to push out a dual AA at the peak of his powers out the door. Yet we paid exactly what they asked for and paid massive overs. Rumours of him being homesick are probably true yet the best we could get for him now is a second rounder in a compromised draft. Wingard plays for the money only and it shows - another poor display when we needed him to step up

I can live with the Patton/Scully trades pretty much a free hits draft wise and well worth the gamble. Problem is now have a high number of journeyman who don’t play for the jumper - exceptions being Hartley and Frost

The Ceglar/McEvoy combo does my head in, yet Clarkson persists...

Just lost for words....

No team in the comp that the commentators love to barrack for more than the Bombers.

Makes it all the more difficult to watch.

Maybe against Adelaide our midfield might win the midfield battle and keep their 20% success rate going, our defenders have to deal with so much crap with our mids getting flogged each week and Finn can't get a game, because apparently the fittest guy at our club (finn) can't run defensively? Incompetent selection panel more like it.

I will never understand Clarkos belief and stubbornness in ceglar. Nothing u can do once he’s picked game day but he is bloody awful under any pressure and the need to push McEvoy back because of it ruins continuity in the middle. Play Kosi and let him learn down back but this crap with ceglar is tarnishing Clarkson.

• Ceglar as the number one ruck
• McEvoy in defence
• Wingard as a permanent small forward
• Stratton as captain

Absolutely terrible decisions that can be seen from a mile way.

I know its a strange year and the 2020 premiership does not mean much (in my opinion anyway). But that was awful. Probably the low point of a shit year for mine.

I can only hope that the club, and Clarko and Wrighty in particular, learnt something (alot) about our 22 players today.

Will save further comments for another time.

Oh, it's fact is it Noel?

Very little out of these 4View attachment 946810
The cliffs coming quickly for Liam Shiels by the looks of it... he will be next years Stratton if he’s still here..

Wingard only plays well when we’re winning.. Drops his head and sooks when the opposition gains momentum..

O’Brien and Minch are just battlers taking spots in a bottom 4 side until we can find replacements..

Ok I will spell this out really clearly.
Hawthorns first half was rubbish. We played against a team that was still in Darwin tired and completely cooked and kicked 7.10. Anyone that tells me anything less is taking the mick.

Breust Hanrahan Worpel Gunston O’Brien all
missed absolute sitters directly in front from 30 metres or closer.

For us to play two rucks and watch us get completely owned around the clearances again was an embarrassment. Jon Ceglar this season is making Stratts look like Keith Greig when we are talking about form. For us to play a ruck who refuses to jump against smaller and less experienced rucks is a complete joke. I know Clarko is close friends with the Ceglar family but we need to find a replacement ASAP. He is done and I don’t care that we signed him for 3 years.

To watch Wingard mope around like the world owes him a favour is a joke. Get serious or GTFO.

To watch Liam shiels plod around all day for 9 touches is a joke.

To see Minchington get a game In the first place and then completely torch the ball by hand and foot coming through the middle is a complete joke.

To see our midfielders completely stuffed with no petrol left by half way through the third is a joke and something the club needs to address very quickly.

In a real sh.t year this pretty much sums it all up for me . We played like millionaires and missed absolute sitters that would have had the game completely done and shot by HT but stuffed it up again.
