This week if I don't trade I'll have 3 rookies playing in each of the back and forwardlines due to the outs of Goddard, Fisher, Riewoldt and Franklin. Rookies are:

DEF: Heppell, Puopolo, Hibberd
FWD: Darling, Mzungu, Howe

I have $103,900 in the bank. My aim is to win the Eliminator/increase overall ranking. My opponent has Gia and T.Lynch as cover for Riewoldt and Franklin, and Jacobs or Nicholson as cover for Goddard (assuming no trades).

The question is - should I upgrade to a forward (Sylvia) or a back (Birchall/Suckling/other)? It would mean upgrading Darling or Heppell.

381k to spend on my final midfield upgrade.

Who should i get? Out of:

Judd
Gibbs
Fyfe
Bolton
D.Martin
Dal Santo

Current Midfield:

Pendlebury
Boyd
Priddis
Hodge
Thompson
Savage (upgrading)

How many trades do you have left? I'd be looking at getting Gibbs in the backs and Fyfe in the forwards.

If I only had 381k to spend, I'd be getting Jobe Watson and crossing my fingers that he can recapture his early season form.......assuming you are not worried about the bye in the last round.

Considered holding off another week so Savage's price can go up? Can't check his BE ATM but it has to be incredibly low. Aim for Ablett or Murphy or Swan.

Butler makes a good point. Since Savage scored 164 last week, his breakeven is 1 and he should rise in price by about 50k in coming weeks.

Also, wouldn't you rather get a gun midfielder like Swan, Murphy or Ablett?

hold off one more week and go savage to GAJ

He's not going to get anywhere near GAJ.

GAJ is $457 k with a breakeven of 73 this week, and an expected price rise of $15k next week.

Savage has a breakeven of -6 with an expected $30k rise this week giving him about $410k to spend next week.

Swan would be the right pick if he can wait another week.

Hi Guys,

I need some advice on my final few trades. 1st time DT player and was ranked as high as 464 and now am around 2900.

$46,700 and 8 trades left.

team is:

Backs
Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Shaw, Adcock, Heppell, Otten (Puopolo, Hibberd, Toy)

Mids
Swan, Selwood, Murphy, Boyd, Ablett, Smith (Harris, Mzungu, Jacobs)

Rucks
Cox, Petrie (Vardy, Keefe)

Forwards
Johnson, Franklin, Goodes, Pavlich, Silvia, N Riewolt, Rioli (Knights, Krak, J Tippett)

My forwards are complete and was wanting to upgrade one more mid and one or 2 more backs. Was planning on going Knights > Callinan which will free up approx $240k. I was then thinking Harris > Pendles but that would leave me with very little money left and would force me to do another downgrade trade to free up money for a backline upgrade.

Would I be better off going Harris to a cheaper mid and then upgrading one of hibberd/puop/toy to a cheapish premium defender?

Not really sure how many trades I need to have up my sleeve for the remainder of the season. Would 3 or 4 be enough? I have plenty of dpp's to cover mids and backs so hopefully will be ok there.

A very good point. I have decided to make another trade to free up cash instead of my previous plan which will leave me with 460k instead of 381k. Or I could wait a week for 485k or two weeks for 506k as Savage's price is going to rise enormously. Thoughts?

Amazingly, after having no ruckmen playing last week, I could be up to 3 playing with Sandilands, Smith and Jolly set to return.
So no worries in the ruck department.

My backs will most likely cop a 0 or two this week because of Goddard and Gram being out and some of my downgrade targets I picked up being dropped.
But I'll have to cop it on the chin, because I don't have enough trades to cover for them.

Midfield is as complete as I can get it this season because I'm running out of trades.

And my forward line is a little stale, but I'll finish it with Matera -> Sylvia this week, which will give me 6 decent scoring forwards.

That'll leave me with 6 trades left. Good enough to make one more upgrade in my backline over the next few weeks (whenever a downgrade target looks good) and then have enough for finals trades and injuries.

Bartel to Swan this week my only trade. Doing mid week trades now that I have crashed out of the top 2000...

How did this team score 1770 last round :(
Best team
Backs: Gibbs, Deledio, Suckling, Goddard, Shaw, Enright, Adcock
Hibberd, Otten, Toy

Mids: Boyd, Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett, Watson, Montagna
Smith, Jacobs, Callinan

Ruck: Cox, Sandilands
Smith, Cunrow

Forwards: Fyfe, Johnson, Franklin, Sylvia, Goodes, Riewoldt, Howe
Mzungu, Howe, Lynch

I don't see how when you trade during the week would make any difference?

It shouldn't......Im having a shocker this year - bad luck + bad calls = Terrible season. About 12K actually (:o:o:o:(:(:()....but you still stick to the basics no matter what!

Just broke the number golden 1 rule of DT and did a midweek trade.. :( promised never to do it but leaving for Melbourne and not sure where Ill be on friday.

Knights -> Callinan
Swallow -> Pendles

Would have like to see if Knights would have been named (srsly, just a lil migraine?) but general consensus from the Crows board sounds like he would be out, plus vs Cats would be tough.

Now watch as Pendles get some minor injury and is out this week.. :p

Knights is available this week apparently.

Finishing my team off and leaving 3 trades for the end of the season. Have fked my M/B MPP up pretty badly but not a great deal i can do about it now.

Looking at doing
Out: Matera, Darling
In: Sylvia, Callinan

Leaving me with a full squad of -

B Goddard, Enright, Deledio, Gibbs, Carrazzo, Rawlings, Hibberd (Lower, Batchelor, Lestor)

M Boyd, Pendlebury, Mitchell, Thompson, Montagna, Bartel (Mzungu, Wallis, Callinan)

R Cox, Smith (Vardy, Spencer)

F Pav, Buddy, Chappy, ROK, Goodes, Boomer, Roo (Sylvia, Smith, Richo)

As you can see i've opted for a floating M/F premium to cover the byes on the run home. Currently ranked 899th and i'll probably need a heck of a lot of things to go right for me to maintain that but after my horrendous start to the year, id probably take 2k.

Roo on the field and Sylvia on the bench? I'll have what you're having.

lol nah that was more for MPP illustrative purposes. I'll very rarely have a premium on the bench unless they've got a bye, i think 7 or 8 weeks i'll have at least one mid or fwd out so it's on a rotating system so to speak.

Higgins anyone? Looks cheap ($318k) and averaging 94 in the last 3 weeks in a "quarterback" style role.

Do you think he will continue this role? Over (as much as Higgins can be) his injuries?

Didak also looks good @ $284k.

Thinking straight swap for Riewoldt and Knights - both of which are going to plummet in price after the weekends debacle.

Appreciate your thoughts.

I have Higgins, but if i were you i wouldn't be trading him in i don't think. Is always a source of stress every week - will he get the ball in his usual forward role (bulldogs have been poor at times), will he be forward tagged in his 'quarterback role', when's his next injury coming, will he be dropped (always hear bulldogs fans talk about how soft he is). Not worth the hassle i wouldnt have thought.
Edit: I have Higgins because i started with him (I know, I know)

While i agree that you should be cautious about trading in Higgins, I don't see why there's such an uproar about him. He averaged 100 before straining his vagina, missed 3 weeks (which is around the max you'd hold onto a player for, see Jobe Watson), admittedly had a shizen 27 + a vest upon his return, but has gone for 74, 83, 95, 105 since in a DT friendly role. I'm not regretting holding onto him at all (started with him).

Some chump was having a go at me about it last week, but i bet he's eating his words now, the kent.

i have had higgins since the start and whlst he is probably approaching his menstrual cycle again soon. i would rate him over didak, has the DPP to so can cover injuries

Swallow > Sylvia
Knights > Fyfe

Team as of round 14:

Gibbs, Deledio, Shaw, Heppell, Broughton, Lower, Hibberd (Goddard, Adcock, Puopolo)
Murphy, Boyd, Pendlebury, Mitchell, Swan, Ablett (Prestia, Mzungu, Jacobs)
Cox, Petrie (Smith, Derickx)
Fyfe, Sylvia, Goodes, Chapman, Lynch, Howe, Smith (Riewoldt, Franklin, Darling)
CASH LEFT: $35, 100
TRADES LEFT: 3

Very tight on trades after this round and what do you think of my team and the above trades?

I wouldn't make any trades at all unless you're players are injured if you've got less than six trades for the rest of the year.

You're up the creek as it is.

My team (last week): [9 trades remaining - $142,300 cash]
Gibbs, Deledio, Shaw, Goddard, Enright, Broughton, Lower (Puopolo, Howard, Toy)

Swan, Pendlebury, Boyd, Bartel, Stanton, Hodge (Hibberd, Jacobs, Mzungu)

Cox, Sandilands (Smith, Bailey)

Fyfe, Pavlich, Franklin, Reiwoldt, Johnson, Petrie, Didak (Krakouer, Lynch, Matera)

Big trade for me this week will be Krakouer to the middle, then to Sylvia.
Options afterwards are to downgrade Z. Smith for the Petrie link and use that money to upgrade a defender to Fisher or best available value.

That'll leave me with six trades, one reserved for Stanton, one pencilled in for Bartel and four for matchup and injuries in the finals.

It's great for you to bring in Fyfe and Sylvia, it makes your team better now, but later you could be counting a greater cost. If you MUST win this league match, then fine, I lost a must win last week and now I'll be fighting for a top four spot, so I've shifted my goalposts to be more flexible.

Done my trades for this week.

before trades, 9 remaining 163,000

Swallow to Sylvia
Knights to Brent Harvey

Once Franklin comes back and Riewoldt misses his bye, will only have 4 non premiums on the field.

So glad I don't have to worry about Knights now. He was driving me nuts, both for Crows and my team.

Current Team
Gibbs, Scotland, Shaw, Suckling, Heppell, Deledio, Lower (L Thompson, B Smith, Puop)
Boyd, Judd, Ablett (C), Harvey, Watson, Boak (Harris, Prestia, B Jacobs)
Cox, Smith (Goldstein (Inj) Trengove)
S Johnson, Sylvia, Goodes, Yarran, Lynch, Mzungu, I Smith (Franklin (Sus) Riewoldt (Bye) Darling)

Now 7 trades remaining and 27,200 left.

i dont think theres much point in upgrading defenders, there arent really any decent ones. although i will be getting shaw in the next few weeks

im thinking of upgrading darling
should it be Sylvia or o keefe?
