The problem we may have is that they are often playing three negative types - Kirk, Jack and Smith. We will really need our second tier running players to come to the fore - Edwards, White, Jackson, Connors, Bling, etc.

Excellent point DD, though Jack's almost like an offensive tagger a bit like Jackson, he's got some serious ball and it's been good quality on several occasions this year. Kirk looked very slow and old tonight, harder for Roos to find a matchup for him and there's no obvious ones against us, his best bet might be Cotchin...he took him out of the game earlier in the year, but Kirk was also a lot fresher then.

I think we've historically failed so badly against the Swans due to their mid depth and our complete lack of it. That's certainly changing.

Hopefully they continue to play Goodes up forward for most of the game.

Bradshaw will likely be the key factor there, geez they've missed him with Goodes horribly out of form.

Wouldn't mind if we play a defensive forward on Malceski...

I don't know why Malceski doesn't cop more tags, he is vulnerable to them. Need someone with a good tank, that limits our options to King, White or perhaps Collins going on our recent setups. King would be an interesting matchup.

Unfortunately, I suspect they kept them out last night to ensure they will be ok for next week against us. Anyway, would rather face them with a stronger line up, more interested in challenging the youngsters and gauging their progress.

Confident we can win this. The issue against them is we usually can't get our hands on the ball first... a problem I believe the swans will experience this time around.

I guess the same could be said for Sydney. They could have done with the break now! That may have given them time to regroup.

Sydney are always hard to beat for us because of the bigger bodies of Goodes, O'Keefe, Kirk, Bolten and now Bradshaw. Our kids find it hard to make tackles stick and are easily bumped aside. Still, it will be an interesting contest.

You see the demons liken the pies games as their finals so you see as too why they give that little bit extra, whereas the poor old tiggers have forgotten all about finals, a long long long time ago. anyways ozzy gun your picture is kinda nice and makes feel funny down below, and i wish we played the swans every week.. also hardwick was seen at the westpac centre having coffee and a good old laugh, maybe mick was going through some pointers regarding beating the swans,, mick out of all people knows this all to well.

This game will come down to matchups. We'll need to shut down their rebounding backline, and they're going to be trying to shut down our midfield.

I expect Kirk will go to Cotchin again, and probably Jack to Deledio. We can reasonably expect those players to be mainly ineffective for the game (though I'd love for one of them to get loose, but past form would dictate that they'll struggle), which means that Martin, Jackson, Tuck, and hopefully Foley will have to really stand up in our midfield, as well as Connors and Newman to step up for Deledio off half back.

If O'Keefe heads into the midfield, I think Jackson will go to him and do a very good job, as he has done in the past, but the main issue is Malceski, Kennelly, and Shaw off half back. All three are dangerous players and if left unchecked we will see a repeat of our first match against them, where their drive from the backline absolutely destroyed us. King has past form on Shaw so I think that would be a good matchup, I'd give White a go at Kennelly but I'd be iffy about that matchup - White's past tagging results are hardly impressive, but then again Kennelly isn't exactly good at dealing with a tag - and move Edwards up to play on Malceski, which I think would be a very good move.

For our backline, I think Goodes will get either McGuane or Moore and I'd like to see the Goo go onto Bradshaw if he is back in. Otherwise Thursfield would do a reasonable job on him. White may have really stretched our defense but indications are that he'll be in the reserves, so we shouldn't have to worry about him. I hope that they opt for a resting midfielder in the forwardline instead of TDL who could really get loose on our defence (as is the tradition for speedy smalls against us), whereas a slower midfielder we will be able to contain pretty well.

Swans are overated and their ladder positon and recent form has indicated that.

They are hard at home but, i honestly think we can beat them.

Our super fast and now agressive midfielders will win ball for our forwards.

Need another forward (GRiffiths) to fire, can not just rely on Rewolt or JR8.

Ive been religously tipping Sydney this season and now that Ive lost faith in them after having them let me down too much, theyve got us...

well, can we beat them? we have gone close recently, and weve had a break, and its in Melb...and they are in a slump...now is as good a time as any...

A good guide to tipping Sydney is to never tip us against the top 4 or 5 teams and always tip us against the bottom 4 or 5.

This game will be an excellent test for your team to see where you're at, as we're a middle of the ladder team that generally puts in a pretty honest performance.

I think the main reason we've had the wood over you guys is recent years is that our 1 on 1 physical style of play enables us to beat up on the younger sides. That advantage is seemingly getting smaller round by round this season.

I'm predicting my team to win this Sunday but I certainly don't expect it to be a walk in the park like recent years.
