Heard on the way home that Cousins is coming in to replace Jackson, interesting to see who gets the nod to replace Griffiths, my bet is McGuane will come in. Although it would be nice to see Gourdis get a run for a month with Post to come in after that.

B: Chris Newman, Will Thursfield, David Astbury
HB: Shane Tuck, Brett Deledio, Daniel Connors
C: Jeromey Webberley, Ben Cousins, Shane Edwards
HF: Matt White, Jack Riewoldt, Richard Tambling
F: Robin Nahas, Tyrone Vickery, Andrew Collins
Foll: Angus Graham, Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin
I/C (from): Kelvin Moore, Jake King, Mitch Farmer, Luke McGuane, EMG: Dean Polo, Jayden Post, Alex Rance

In: McGuane, Tambling, Cousins
Out: Daniel Jackson (suspension), Ben Nason (soreness), Ben Griffiths (shoulder)

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

We would have to give Gourdis a go soon because we have not seen him at afl unlike Post and others.

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

Disappointed for the Goo. His VFL for has been consistent and very good.

I know Mcguane has a few fans around here but one of him, Moore and Thursty have to go and the last two have been in better form and better disposal.

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

Only a matter of time now before we play him. No point in upgrading him if we dont use him.

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

been a matter of time for some time.....its kind of breaking the rules by not playing him is it not?

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

Surely we couldn't field Moore, McGuane, Thursfield and Astbury all together, especially considering it is supposed to be wet and NM aren't exactly flushed with tall forwards (the only one of note is Hansen and he's hardly going to tear us apart).

Griff out, Astbury will go forward and Moore, McGuane, Thursfield will go back together.

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

This is getting a bit demented, we draft Rance and Post as key backs, Rance falls short on ariel skills to play key back, Post proves to slow at this stage so we send them both forward desperate to find a spot for them, we draft Gourdis a key forward who we sent back to improve his defence aspect and footy smarts, he does a lot right this year, so now we have a key forward with good defensive skills, now when we need a key forward we bring the failed key backs into the squad and name a ruckman who is struggling to get his hands on the ball as a ruckman and who we have tried as a key foward several times for no result, cant be that hard
Would back Gourdis to double the impact of Vickery, Rance, Post or even Astbury as a key forward at this stage

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

Gourdis should be looking for a new club. The number of players drafted after him have played multiple games, he is yet to debut. I would be pissed if i was him.

with bling and cuz named in 22, so they're definite ins. of that bench, I'd reckon only Moore and Farmer are certainties. Wouldn't be surprised to see Polo in and either Rance/Post with McGuane sent to Burgers for a week or two to run into form before a recall - just as Thursty was recently. Glad for Webberley and Nahas that they retained their spots

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

:)WOULD suggest Farmer, Moore and King will all be retained after last week and Post will come in to play forward.
Thinking hardwick would like to retain Astbury down back and Post adds greater flexibility than McGuane to allow that to happen.
:eek:Why all the angst about Gourdis ... his opportunity will come. He's basically played as a key defender at Coburg all year and from the past few weeks, Thursfield, Moore and Astbury have more than done the job.
It's called TEAM BALANCE!!!
McGuane had been faring well too before his layoff, so likely ahead of Gourdis too at the minute.
But his time will come!!!

This sounds likely....
The only thin I'm pissed off about is Nason not coming up.
I really like him in the 22 and if we don't get any injuries this week it will be interesting to see where he is picked next Thursday afternoon.

He has become part of our 'furniture' this season.

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

I'd say Mcguane is playing since he's in the pic advertising the game

I'm thinking wet MCG, and the Roos not an overly tall team. Cuzz, Bling and Polo to come in. Astbury will push forward.

Re: Round 16 vs Roos - Cousins In, Will Gourdis/Post Join Him?

Nahas should definitely have been dropped.
His game was horrible. The only thing that saved him was Nason being injured and therefore Tigers lacking a small forward...
The Goo was drafted as a forward, but because he has played down back all year (and well) will he be able to just slot in up front comfortably? A natural would work into the game, so i spose we'll have to wait and see...
When Nason is fit he should come straight back in for Nahas, and this week i think Astbury should move forward and Mcguane go down back.

I wouldn't mind seeing King have a rest so that he is nice and fresh and ready to take on Didak the following week....

Hard to leave him out if it's gonna be a wet slog though....

McGuane will come in.

Not worried about playing Astbury, McGuane, Thurstfield and Moore in the same team. Astbury will play foward while McGuane, Thurstfield and Moore are hardly dinosaurs and are athletic enough to play in the wet, more so then Post. Just look at Moore and McGuans game against Port.

Nahas is lucky to keep his spot, but he will be handy in the wet. If it is wet Jacko will be a big loss.
