At last we have a full round of fixtures again. It seems like months ago since I wandered to Basso for a game, but then I'm probably only counting the last one we won. :D

It's fair to say that all of the last 5 rounds are important for 5 or so teams, Sowfs, Swans, West Perf, Perth, Peel and East Freo. Starting with a blockbuster in Newman this weekend, where more than the weather will be hot!

Swans v Souths - Newman, presumably to give Swans a chance of winning.:thumbsu: Based on the last 2 weeks this should be an absolute corker. If Davis and Garlett are back in for Swans I would feel the balance of this game is pretty even, that's the impact these 2 first year players have. I remember O'Keefe hurting us last time so someone needs to quell him and then there are Sowfs possible AFL ins. Add to that Swans experienced players, like Beros, Lange and Ames that have been missing the past few weeks and if both teams are near full strength it will be a good match. After all, there is everything to play for in this match - 1 step towards the double chance. ABC TV match of the day should be good viewing.

Claremont v East Freo - East Freo have strung wins together and appear to be surging towards the end of the season, while Claremont are trying to avoid the wooden spoon. Richardson, deBoer, McGinnity are some young players showing a fair bit this year. Then there is Anthony, who's shown a bit for 2 years now IMO, plus Basile, Conway and a smattering of AFL players. Looks tough to tip and I go for the Sharks solely on a bit better form.

West Perth v Perth - well with the form slump the Demons have hit, after having a realistic shot at 2nd, how could you possibly tip them? I can't even make a case for them, such is their form. This is the first match where Connelly (dockers) comes up against the side he was shifted from because he wasn't getting opportunities, so how will that pan out? Perth still have decent players in Siekerka, K-T, Seamus Young, Zucconi, Thornton and Heise so they should be able to put up a decent effort if they all come to play together. Still think the Falcons, we'll see how young Hill goes if he gets another game, should win this one.

East Perth v Peel - is vital to Peel to stay in touch with, if not take 4th, should the Falcons falter. The Royals played well as a team a few weeks ago against Swans but haven't been able to back that up again, and this is one of the better opportunities to get another win on the board and stay clear of Claremont. Not sure if Shepherd or other colts players will get a chance to show their wares, but we should see Bennell, Davis, Ballantyne and possibly Arrowsmith on the Thunder side. Should be a good tight match and I'll enjoy from the members. My 8yo is playing at half time in the Auskick game:thumbsu:.

I see rain forecast for Saturday, let's hope it stays fine for the game and we all have an enjoyable weekends viewing.

hey there

should be a great game peel boys are up and about and pushing for the finals and will push east perth all the way cant wait!1

johnny bennell should have a blinder great player the youngster is!!

and another name mitchell green might be a chance to crack a league berth been playing great footy in colts and reserves looks like making a late charge for the drafting scouts hhe wears no. 17 in colts and no. 46 in reserves plays through the midfeild and looks a really good player

any feedback

Just been on to the WAFL website and see Trinity Handley is set to play his 100th for Claremont. Well done!:thumbsu:

Marcus, I'll keep my eye out for number 17 or 46 and give you some feedback. Looking forward to seeing John Bennell play again.

Looking at the ins and outs so far and 2 big ones for Souths in Black and Siegert out. Whilst Swans get no experience back it is sort of counteracted by the experience going out for Souths. Oh, and Naita named on the wing opposed to the little racehorse Campbell, should be something to see if it eventuates!:D

Carn Peel

One of if not the biggest game in the clubs history this week......MUST WIN.

East's ruck dept has been troubled all season so hopefully Beeck and Big Al can get on top and get the ball down to the likes of Rosa, Hammond, Bloxsidge (This kids a gun) and then we can get it down to Ballas to kick another bag.

CMON THUNDER!

WE ARE THE THUNDER, FOOTBALL IS OUR GAME!!!

Shepherd injured his groin at training so was unable to make the squad. However Mark Hutchings made the team and will be making his debut for the league side after playing colts all year. Is a solid midfielder/half back who has been consistently in the best and been racking up 30+ possessions all year. Has only just turned 17 in May so is the youngest player playing WAFL atm i think.

Pretty impressive kid too vapid. Whilst I didn't watch all the game I saw him take a super mark in the third, then a nice goal saving mark, under a little pressure, in the last. Didn't seem to panic looked alright. :thumbsu:

Anyhow, what did I tell you about Swans? Mentally incapable of beating Sowfs, even if they had their reserves out there.

I did see a good game of colts footy in the morning though, with Swans leading well early, the doggies came back to even up the match and hit the front in the 3rd and then Swans, into the breeze, came home with a wet sail to win comfortably. For Swans good players were Blight (another 6'3" or so utility), Rod Manton, Clint Garlett, Steve Potente (blistering pace), McKinlay, Bonnett and Johnson. Souths had some very useful players in Ed Dann (2), Collica, Sgherza and Toby Bairstow. Sorry if I missed any young players.

There was a lot of talent up in Newman today.

Was good to see Natinui moved from the ruck into a Key position, looked ok, still lacks a little nouse but IMO, proved today he can play another role.

Went onto Callum Wilson in thesecond half after he'd bagged 6 in the first half.

Wolfenden is a crafty little roodog, hard at it, sharp with good skills. Reminds me of Dean Laidley a tad.

Reece Adams is going to be a player. Great size and obviously a hard worker. Phillips was again lively and played a good role across half foward bagging two himself and setting up another couple.

Good win to Souths, looked like they were fading but steadied and kicked on. O'keefe and Miller coming to the for at the end despite the best efforts of Hinkley, Twoomey and Chris Smith.

Yarran and Garlett were dangerous also.

Good game but the Swans lacked a little polish when it counted.

I was able to watch the East Perth Peel colts match today and was pretty hard to pick standouts due to the shocking conditions of a ground, and good team effort from the Royals. As for Hutchings first game i thought he played very well although took him a little while to adjust to the pace. Still, 21 possessions for a debut game as a 17yr old is quite an achievement

hey chrsco,

how did mitchell green (no.46) for the peel thunder reserves go?

any feedback?

poor loss by the peel boys in the league didnt turn up to play when their season was on the line very dissappointing, showed a little bit of inexperience and gave away some stupid free kicks. . .

any feed back on this player and how you rate him?

Sorry marcus , I said I'd look out for him but I was taken to the East Perth past players room and got sidetracked. I did see a bit of the last, sitting with the Peel supporters/parents and saw a number 45/46 get reported, waas that him? Red hair, IIRC. He actually played well after the report, kicked a goal or 2 and got into the play. Looked like a good hard at the ball player. Just looked at the best players and Mitch Green was listed. :thumbsu:
