He guys, sorry to invade. I was just wondering do you think Mckenzie could be a 30-40 goal a season midfielder like the Fyfes/Martins of this world you would think will be? Is he capable of one day averaging 25-30 possessions a game? I am just really intrigued by him, I have been watching some GC highlights, massive boot. Some very exciting talent you have. Would he have been a top 10 draft pick?

Not sure, perhaps he might be in a few years time? But considering our leading goal kicker kicked 20 I think it was last year to win the award. I'm pretty confident that it may be another 2-3 years where we can get multiple goal kickers above 30-40 goals in a year.

Back to the game...

Excited, and definitely jumping on the +52.5 line bet

Hey SN I am not a betting man, what does +52.5 mean is that a point margin??? sorry for my ingnorance I just want to better understand what your on about.

I'm no expert Iva, but I understand the bookmaker determines the "handicap" for us is 52.5 points...so it's a 50:50 bet...there's a predetermined return on a dollar...maybe $2
If you bet on the Suns you're betting we'll lose by no more than 52 points
If you're a Saints supporter you're betting on them winning by 53 points or more
Whoever's right gets a $2 return on their dollar bet
That's why they put the .5 in...it excludes a draw from the equation
But you can probably bet on that too.
SK is excited, but I haven't met too many poor bookies ;)

Sandy is correct, and yes you can bet on the draw. From memory I think its generally paying about $50 to $70 : $1 ?

I think the line in this case is very good value, going off St Kilda's form and inability to kick more than about 12-15 goals. We average probably about a score of 10 goals or so, so thats where my reasoning comes from in this particular bet :)

Have to agreefor all you punters out there, because i think saints will most likely win by around 35-40 , (45 max) we probably could have gone over 50 but we are missing a few key players this weekend, lil schneids just to name one.

As are we

Bock, Stanley, McKenzie to name a couple

B: Harbrow, Warnock, Taylor
HB: Weller, May, Brennan
C: Shaw, Swallow, Prestia
HF: Bennell, Lynch, Hall
F: Brown, Hickey, Matera
R: Smith, Rischatelli, Ablett

INT: Caddy, Fraser, Hunt, McKenzie, Patrick, Sexton, Russell

In McKenzie's article, says he hopes to return round 3, so perhaps hes already ruled out this week? I would much rather Fraser in than Hickey as well.

Good on Sexton getting the call, perhaps the sub?

Team out for the weekend.

Iles I think is very hard done by to be dropped thought he played well.

And Tape as we all expected is out.

Glad to see Mckenzie has been named on the bench, hopefully he pulls up well enough to play.

A couple of players for the Suns can count themsleves lucky they are still there.

Glad to see Weller and Shaw are back in the mix.

@tmckenzie18: Very happy to be back in the side this week to take on the saints. Also check out my column on @GoldCoastFC website http://t.co/MyN0bcmm

McKenzies twitter feed so guess he will play as named?

He says first hes hoping for round 3 and then at the end of the article says he hopes to be included this week. So, who knows. Poor editing probably. Also agree re Fraser.

Happy-ish with the changes.

I'm still not sold on Patrick. He can have huge impacts, but then disappears for games.

The thing that screams to me in this selection is speed. If Patrick, Sexton, Shaw and McKenzie are all playing in one form or another, then it's going to sharply increase the running speed of our team. Pretty clear on how Bluey plans to approach the Saints. Just run straight through them! None of that chipping stuff, but run and carry with our fastest players and hope it cuts their structures up. Against a slower team like the Saints, the idea has merit.

Which is why I would guess Iles misses out, replaced by the quick Shaw? He busts his gut to get to places, but isn't super quick in the run-and-carry sense.

Not sure of the defensive element of Patrick's or Sexton's game?

Of course, if McKenzie, Patrick and Sexton are the emergencies, that sort of blows up my theory. :o

Interesting to note on the Saints board, some of them believe that their inclusion slows them down considerably.

Sexton and Fraser have been named for your reserves side which is playing our (Swans) reserves side on Saturday. None of the other 5 players on the extended bench have been named in that reserves side meaning that you're keeping one emergency as a standby for Sunday.

EDIT: Just read the comments on Iles, he's also in the reserves side.

Thanks for the info, Grim!

Sexton, Fraser emergencies then.

Who would be the last out of Caddy, Hunt, McKenzie, Patrick & Russell?

I would say Patrick out of that list. McKenzie to be the sub maybe.

Definitely some express speed in that side.

I think there's still a bit of rotation policy and Iles will be first on the chopping block most times
As a mature recruit he's behind virtually everybody

Id like to see Patrick get games this year. He needs to prove he's up to this level and get a contract extension for next season which to be honest is unlikely atm.

Id say McKenzie will be the sub, very impressive last week v Southport but as Bluey said, cant run out a full game. Good option to throw on in the 3rd qtr.

Indeed the idea has merit. Back a couple of seasons when the Saints were challenging for a flag, using speed 'to cut their structures up' was really effective against them.
However in 2012 with a new coach, and the knowledge that the gameplan they used a couple of seasons ago is never going to win them a flag, it may no longer be as effective as I would expect them to be using a different gameplan themselves. But haven't seen enough of thim in 2012 to know for sure..

If they are still using that old 'zone defence' though I am going to laugh so hard when I see it.. They are simply going to get smashed by all the other teams who have learned how to beat it..

Very surprised to see Iles omitted. It is not just bigfooty members that underrate him, it is the coach too. Mckenna's tanking from round 2?

Like I said about Iles, perhaps he's just not required structurally this week?

I'm pretty confident that the Coaches know what they're doing in preparation for the games. They're going to play the players they think will be best to win against a slower St. Kilda.

Perhaps against the faster teams, IE: Crows, Carlton and such, he'll be more of a chance to come in? Who knows.

Totally not part of the selection panel, either. :D

Grapevine tells Russell now in starting 18...

Final Bench: Caddy, Hunt, McKenzie and Hall.

Emergency: Fraser, Patrick, Sexton
