As much as everyone wants John Meesen to debut he will not get selected until he has played a senior game for Norwood.

My in’s and Outs are

In: Goodwin, Thompson and Biglands

Outs: Burton, Begley and Skipworth (Clark) after the Channel Ten News

in - goodwin, thompson, biglands

out - burton, skipworth, begley

stick biglands up forward, tell him to crash the packs inflict some pain, have to have clarke rucking, tear them a new belly button, we should massacre em in the clearances and inside 50s, if only we could kick goals

Uh...he did...last week...

Why Skipworth over Bode from Sunday's performance?

Could Bode's disposal be any worse? He didn't even kick straight.
Because Mathew Bode can kick over a jam tin…. even though it wont hit anything, it will go a long way. Skippy is just unlucky that’s all

Did Bode play? ...just jokin'
Didnt you love the way Craigy put his arm around Bode at quarter time (walking off) and whisper...

"You thought youd get more of a run with Ayresy gone eh Matty"

WTF is goin on!!

I just think Bodes a bit harder at the ball than Skippy. You have to get the ball b4 you flick it up.

Dont get me wrong Im a Skippy fan....have been since he was delisted.

B: Hart, Bassett, Doughty
HB: Johncock, Rutten, Hentschel
C: Mattner, Goodwin, Reilly
HF: Ricciuto, McGregor, Perrie
F: Biglands, Welsh, McLeod
R: Hudson, Shirley, Edwards
I: M Stevens, Thompson, Skipworth, Van Berlo

In: Goodwin, Thompson, Biglands, Van Berlo
Out: Burton (inj), Clarke (inj) Bode, Begley

Bode - should come back until he can learn to kick (Skipworth>Bode, but Ladhams would be my preference over both).
Begley - needs to find form with Sturt.

McGregor (or Rutten) - play forward, given both to slow for Tarrant & stretch Pies defence.
Shirley - run with Licuria to see if he can do the job 2 weeks in a row.
M Stevo - to come on when Biglands relieves Huddo in ruck.

In: Biglands, Goodwin, Thompson, Van Berlo

Out: Begley, Burton (inj), Skipworth, Clarke

Put Rhett up forward if nothing else you're assured that he can hold his own in the goal square with height and body strength, when adelaide resorts to bombing it in long and high to a contest, something which West Coast were able to read and rebound from last week.

Goodwin and Thompson add some flexibility for midfield positions and allow the usual (mcleod, ricciuto and edwards) time to win positions (hopefully :p ) in other areas of the ground.

And Van Berlo would be absolutely champing at the bit to get a run in the team and eager to impress ensuring a 110% effort. Not to mention some much needed exposure to the AFL for development of the "young'uns" bit by bit so the club can be a force for many years to come... :D

All shall be revealed in the next 24 hours...

Like everyone else Thompson, Biglands and Goodwin should be the INS, while Begley, Clarke (inj) and Burton (inj) should be the OUTS, although Bode's game wasn't too crash hot either on Sunday.

I would like to see Hentschel played in one position ONLY this weekend, either forward or back. We need to settle him down into a position. He's already versitile enough. Now we need to see where he is best suited too.

Biglands to be used on and off the bench, sometimes in the ruck, other times in the forward lines. We should really stretch the Pies' ruck with Rhett.

As much as I would like to see Van Berlo and Meesen in the red, blue and gold, they have not shown enough yet and need to earn their spot. :)

Tarrant may be a little too fast for Truck Rutten, Hart would probably be a better choice. Kenny should match it with Rocca and dominate him in the running department.

And for once, the AFC need to rest Riccuito in the forward line, not the bench every quarter. Roo knows what needs to be done in front of the goals and he does it well.

I like Begley BUT his last month or so has been VERY VERY ordinary :(

I'm the same as you Stiffy. I rate Begley as well, but he's not really firing at the minute.

Same ins and outs as you.

Uh...no...he played in the seniors, the team that lost to North Adelaide. You might want to be a bit more careful before holding to that...

Roosters' double act too much for Legs
By DOUG ROBERTSON
25mar05

THE SANFL faithful flooded into The Parade hungry for the thrills of old-fashioned man-on-man football and Norwood and North Adelaide served up a feast in an electrifying SANFL season-opener last night.

North needed all its unquestioned flair and developing toughness to grind down the Legs 22.12 (144) to 15.6 (96) – set up by a sensational 10-goal third term. But even the most rabid Roosters fans would not have felt at ease until Daniel Hargraves snared his sixth goal 28 minutes into the last term to put North 42 points up.

Given that Norwood charged almost into contention in the last stanza with a blazing seven-goals-to-one in 20 minutes creates hope at The Parade. But the night belonged to the Roosters, whose near arrogance in sharing out the ball, ripping down opponents with lightning tackles and taking on the challenge at every chance has set a tone for the competition to follow.

The rough-tough tussle was Australian football as is was designed to be played – fast, furious and highly entertaining. The high-tempo contest was costly for North skipper Darryl Wintle, thrown into the southern end fence one minute into the second term and sent for a precautionary trip to hospital with mild concussion. But Roosters twin-gun forwards Damon White (4.2) and Hargraves (6.2) had a night to remember with a stunning double act.

Norwood had an unexpected pre-match power boost when Port Adelaide gifted Roger James and Adelaide sent back its rookie ruckman John Meesen but neither had an impact. James, an AFL premiership hero just five months ago, struggled to pick up the pace of the game.

Homegrown products Scott Borlace, Matt Bartemucci (5.1) and promising debutant Stephen Bailey impressed for the Redlegs.

On the money. I don't think Biglands will play forward as that was an option when we were taking three ruckmen in.

On Clarke's weekend effort I would never give him a game again....

...ok - I think we should all pitch in $2 to cover DV2's bet that The Meese would debut before R2...... :D

FWIW mate....I reckon he'll get a few games this year for sure

I cant believe how much some of you hate Doughty. I reckon he goes OK but I dont think I'll be bringing that up much around this board in the future.

I like Mcleod on the wing, don't know why it hasn't been tried before. But I'd have Doughty and Skippy before Begley. I know many posters here believe Doughty is soft, but IMO Begley is far softer.

Yeh, I like the thought of Macca having a wing to use his pace, and hopefully blow away his tagger of the day. I also think it makes opposition coaches think about having their best tagger in the centre square on someone else, allowing Macca some freedom. I suspect he only needs two or three good games to bring out the macca we know and have missed in the past 18 months or so.

On Begley v Doughty, Skipworth , I picked Begley out of these three because I think he is a better player, I think he is more skillful & more flexible. He can play back, in the middle or a wing or even up front. I dont think Doughty or Skipworth can. IMO Begley could be a Kane Johnson like player, while Skipworth is too small & not strong enough, and Doughty I think just isnt talented enough.
