Ah, it's going to be another Cox must play this week, kind of week isn't it?

if cox was ever umpired like other forwards for chopping the arms hed have kicked double as many goals
people never liked the idea of an unplayable tall yank that plays for collingwood getting free kicks, fairly or not
Cox, plays like he is 5' 9". Most of his marking contests if you call them that, are spent wrestling with an opponent that initiates it with him, because they know if they didn't he will out mark them. He still hasn't worked that out yet.
Secondly, When the ball is kicked deep into our forward line, He is always out of position. A bit like a favourite at the Melbourne cup that got boxed in at the start of the race and never had a chance. Again, he hasn't worked that out yet.

I agree, he should have had multiple 3-5 goal games. But he hasn't for those reasons I mentioned.

The bloke is probably heartbroken about his kids being in another state & what this will mean. He obviously wanted to stay with us, which is why he signed the extension.

Have some compassion & empathy.
I agree with you in general. But that Tom Morris story is a red flag. Here's what Bobby wants - doesn't get any of it nor does he play VFL. I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look good.

Some media person yesterday said there are some players you just need to keep playing that are crucial for your structure and team cohesion even if they aren't playing all that well, just keep playing them and get them to work through it. I think Cox is one of those for us. We just needed to keep playing him, showing him the confidence we should have had in him but we have let him rot in the magoos for too long. I would play Cox and two of the MMM's. Checkers and Membrey are a bit more agile but Checkers is looking like a beat up Toyota Corolla right now, maybe is the one to make way. One has to go. We need to get more dangerous in the air.

Absolutely cooked. Might as well have been ten goals down, we were never winning that game.

This is like the worst of Buckley honourable losses.

Coaches have lost the ****ing plot with selection and conservative shit tactics in game.

Forward setup is ****ed with McStay next to useless.

And not using the sub until halfway through the last quarter is the definition of cowardice. Too afraid of going against established players and taking one off to change things up.

Missed the game. Have only read 5 pages but have to say the pea hearts are out in force.
Simple facts
  • held the most potent fwd line in the game, to 59 points ie defence is back
  • had 34 more I50’s - that will give Nicks nightmares because he knows they got out jail.
  • smashed them in clearances and tackles so our pressure game is back.

So to all the doomsayers- which team has the most upside?
Which team wins this game 9/10 with such field position dominance?

In a return match which team do you think will have no fear?

Lol we can just lever get full value for any of the players we trade do we.

Treloar, Grundy, Stephenson, Noble.

Meanwhile we pay full whack for every player we get in.
And then destroy their careers by not playing them to their strengths.

I respect anybody's views and opinions, even yours No Spin. If you want to take tonight's performance and spin it into a reason why we will be better next time then you will never be critical of the present. Must be bliss to live in a world where the current reality holds no meaning or relevance. We were pretty good tonight without putting the score on the board but I would ask you to go and watch this game and then tell me if you truly think the way we were kicking that ball inside 50 was ever going to win us the game. Any robot can bomb the ball inside fifty 71 times for 8 goals reward, our system was beyond broken.

It seems that when teams get a lead on us, or equalise after being down (like Adelaide tonight) they go into flood mode against us.

They have assessed that we cannot score, and they have a high probability of getting one or two out the back.

Adelaide maintained this strategy for the entire second half against us.

It is not new.

Freo, GC did the same.

What is it about our game, our style, etc that allows teams to exploit this weakness?

And why do we seem never to have even attempted to devise an innovative strategy to oppose it?
Our backs are pressing up too aggressively, stop the ball getting out but it's too flooded.
Need to score more from fast ball movement is the way to beat it.

Nah it’s all rainbows and unicorns in here. Have to be positive. Not allowed to be critical after losing 5 of 6 and barely hanging onto a top 4 after being 10 points on top.

It was an amazing performance, despite the loss. Sure, not perfect. But show me another team that can almost pull it off.

A team that has 71 F50 entries and still loses a game, especially when the other side only has 37, have some serious connection, game plan and structural issues, particularly up forward...

Yeah, but then again, you can’t really have a game plan when you’re kicking the ball forward to a thousand and one players packed in like Roman legions.
