Does anyone know when the league is going to finalise the schedule for round 23? From memory it is usually about 6 weeks out (i.e about now).

Looking at the draw, I think it's likely that we're going to get a round 23 Friday night clash because both MCG games feature likely finalists so neither will be played on Sunday, meaning a Fri night and Sat (arvo or night) game. My guess for the schedule:

Fri:
Ess v Ric - MCG

Sat:
StK v Fre - Etihad (early)
Col v NM - MCG (2:10)
PA v Car - AAMI (4:40)
Syd v Haw - SCG (7:50)
Gee v Bri - Skilled (7:50)

Sun:
GCS v GWS - Metricon (who cares what time)
WB v Mel - Etihad (who cares what time)
WCE v Ade - Subiaco (who cares what time)

To be honest if we are drawn a nice 5 day break, I can see us using this team vs GWS

FB: Grimes Astbury Batchelor
HB: Dea Petterd McDonough
C: White Tuck Jackson (c)
R: Arnot Stephenson Lonergan
HF: A. Edwards Griffiths King
F: McBean McGuane Nahas

INT: Elton Helbig S. Edwards McIntosh (sub)

Sat:
StK v Fre - Etihad (early)
Col v NM - MCG (2:10)

No way would PTV allow two arvo games side by side in melbourne. Replace one of these with the Geelong game and it'll be set.

Mogwal, I understand the idea behind that team to play GWS, but the one you've posted would get belted even by them. In all possibility, we will still need to win that game to pick up the top 8 spot 100000%.

On the fixture, there are often 2 games in Melbourne on the same afternoon, I don't think the low drawing Saints v Freo match (finishing an hour before the bigger MCG clash woul cause too many problems).

Friday Night
Collingwood v North - 7 day break for Pies having played the previous Friday night.
Saturday Afternoon
Sydney v Hawthorn 1.45 - Hawks likely to be top or second, travel to Sydney gets early game to get back early and recover.
St.Kilda v Fremantle 2.10 - Fremantle maybe top 4 need to travel back to WA early
Saturday Twilight
Geelong v Brisbane - Cats top 4 at home get the twilight game. Lions playing late Sunday week before.
Saturday Night
Essendon v Richmond - both top 8 sides(pending ASADA/AFL result for Bombers). We're coming back from Sydney week before. Bombers play Saturday night week before too.
Port v Carlton - could be the game that decides the final spot in the 8. Neither side should get a great reward for finishing 8th
Sunday
Gold Coast v GWS - Foxtel early game given WCE v Crows will be the late game.
Bulldogs v Melbourne - Only game in Melbourne on the day means its going to 7.
WCE v Crows - as mentioned the late Foxtel game as all WA games seem to be played.

Looks spot on . You can then lock our EF the next week on Saturday night against Collingwood or Port.

Fixture has been released.

Sydney v Hawks on Friday night to reward Hawks top spot with extra day break means that Collingwoodgets shunted off to Sunday.

Geel v Bris, 2.10
Port v Carl, 4.10 local

Rich V Ess 7.40pm MCG (SAT, AUG 31st)

Good time for us as the teams we could play first week of finals, Port V Carl play in SA same day (4.10pm) and Coll play Sun 3.20pm
