Does anyone else think that now with the return of one of the best small defenders in the comp in Whelan, we can use Bartram as our no. 1 tagger in the guts? Hate to say it, but Juior is too slow for the role now, I know I can't be the only one who saw G.A. Jr burn him off multiple times last week. Although this week I'd be tempted to place him next to Harvey for the whole game, regardless of where he plays.

If they line up as named (never happens but...)

Rivers- Edwards
Carroll- Thompson
Bell- Ross
Bartram- Harvey
Bruce- Jones
Whelan- Campbell

C. Johnson and Wheatley are also options, especially if Bruce is required elsewhere.

I like the look of the backline match up and maybe bell on grant when he moves down fwd or bartram.

I like bruce down he is relaible and provdes great run. Miller i assume is named down back but will line up fwd.

Why on earth is Jamar selected over messon, he is a proven failure over a number of years with no future at the club, and if meeson isnt up to it why recruit him in the first place Bailey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also im suprised to see moloney still out of the side, why cant he get a game? Frawley is also in this category...

As others have said there is a feeling he is not at 100% and maybe injured.

I just watched the pre-match interview with Willo and he said Jamar got called up this week (i suspect because of the supposed injury with Meesen), but he has been told he needs to be on his A game or else Meesen will come in the following week and will continue to rotate until one or the other really steps up

Bate is not on the injury list, not listed as an emergency and not mentioned anywhere. Why? Will he be back soon:confused:

Still finding form and fitness after inury his hamstring 5 or so weeks ago. Won't be long before he is back in the red and blue.

Welcome back Wrecker....
how much stronger does our backline look with Rivers and Wheels in there...
Bruce on Corey Jones will be a great match up!

Could I assume Whelan is stil in your best 22 and should play the remaining games out bar injury and suspension?

Yes, he is easily one of the best small defenders in the afl but has been injured over the past 12 months. Really provides our backline with grunt & confidence!

He's been named in Sandys starting 18 for Sunday, so I'm assuming its match practice in the magoos before he's unleashed against the blues next week.

That is a bit harsh, I know it is easy and popular to categorise a player over their career but Jamar was pretty good for us in '06. '07 for Jamar was crap with injuries and he may struggle in '08 but his whole career hasn't been that bad.

On another note it is great to see Whelan back, the kind of player we all love to see in the side. C Johnson I think needs to step up a bit from now on.

The guns are back!

With the ability to break legs & tear oak tress in half with a tackle, we're freaking glad to see you Matty.
