After a bit of help if you could.

A few of us are coming over to watch the State League game on 14th of May.We're all SANFL followers, mainly the Chooks.
One of us is a bit of a rabid Cats fan, Rooster Wedgie, he may post on here a bit.

As the same blokes come over every year to get into a few AFL games & the Victorian footy culture (no Port or Crows supporters allowed & Footy Park, well, just sucks) we have'nt been out to Pussy Park yet & we're a bit keen to go.

So

Will a Sunday Morning train get us there,or is a bus a better option?
Is renting a car for the day worth it?
Would we need to book tickets to the game, standing rooms ok by us?
How long would it take & what time should we leave?

We're staying in the CBD, 100M from The Telstra Dome, so any info would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

ps: Why don't you guys recruit more Roosters, we have'nt had any Cats players since Banger Bamford & Cameron Roberts.

Hollypig , firstly let me say Im no expert on the Melb to Geelong to Melb roue as Im Geelong based but from the info youve forwarded i have couple of observations. The Dome is right next to Spencer St, if you get a train that gos all the way to South Geelong station its only a short stroll to KP.depending on stops the its 65 odd minutes. The thing would be to confirm that the a train goes thru to SG station on the Sunday morning. This might not be normally the case based on the chart at the below address

http://www.vlinepassenger.com.au/timetables/southwest/100-Melb-Geelong.pdf

but they do have special trains on football days. Ive gone and returned fromSG station so I presume it works in reverse else you would have to the ground via Taxi from Geelon station and by the time you add up train fairs for a few(4?)plus a taxi you might consider car rental as being more econmical

As far as entry goes, if I was going General Admission Id get there early as there are two thousand odd free seats and after that only limited Standing Room. Its all new this year with the new stand, and most seating for the year has been sold.I think this game involves the Roos so it might not be a huge crowd, being Sunday it may be a Free to Air game all this can effect tha attendance. It may pay to keep yor finger on the pulse, give the club a ring when you hit Vic

Good onya, thanks for that Turbo, looking forward to it.

Agreed with what Turbocat has said so far, due to it being the Kangaroos and a good possibility of live coverage the crowd numbers should be lower than usual.

However, I still would recommend you get there early, the gate opening times differ depending on if there is a pre-match game. I think it's around 10:30-11:00am if there is a pre-match game and around 12:00pm if there is no game.

The Spencer St. train to Sth Geelong seems like the best option (if possible), I'm not too sure but the club or supporters in Melbourne may also run some busses to Geelong.

If I was you I would definitely pre purchase entry for standing room via TM7.

There were a few lockouts last year and it would be a shame to come all that way to not be let in.
