Watched it on & off for a few years but watched all last years episodes and last nights.

Some of the stuff that goes on tugs at the heart strings.

Sad to hear at the end of last nights show that the soccer crazy guy that had cancer in his leg ended up losing his battle, was only about 20 :thumbsd:

Anyone else keen on RPA?
 
I used to catch it if it was on and I was in front of the TV.

I also caught last night episode's and I do remember that young guy who was battling cancer. I remember him vividly as I was amazed by his strength and optimism. I was quite shocked to hear he lost his fight earlier this year :(

Definitely puts things into perspective...

That was very sad at the end, and something that hits home very hard.

Yeah why not watch footage of people about to die. Such important life stories are told, for instance, if you are upbeat and look on the bright side of life, you still die horribly.

Sorry to be crude KERRBY, but srsly, what is the point of such shows?

it is all about getting attached to strangers and wathcing them die. as far as i can see.
 
That kid with cancer really got to me too. I was wondering what happened to him - I remembered at the end of the last season he had gotten really bad news. :(

Life's not a bed of roses. No need to sugarcoat it. It's reality TV - REAL reality, not a bunch of people locked in a house, or roaming around on an island.

I didn't mean to be offensive sorry

Going by TV standards, a massive percentage of people die. Compare a season of RPA to, say, The Sopranos, a violent TV show. It's not so different.
In RPA people die, or they get sick, or they don't die, and there is no reason. It just happens. What is the point of getting attached to people and watching it happen? There's nothing to be learned from it is there?

Ah okay, I guess I just missed that point (which is VERY valid). Sorry.

I kind of just thought most people would get enough that kind of thing in real life, i didn't mean to sound like such a smartass about it.
 
Call me heartless, but what was that kid thinking postponing his arm amputation so he could attend his formal. :confused:

For anyone who didn't watch tonight, the cancer spread and he sadly passed away not long after. You don't f*** around with cancer, and I was stunned to see his parents support his decision to wait, especially since the doctor was adamant to have it asap. Costly move.
 
Very silly, and now his parents will have to live the rest of their lives not knowing whether they could have done more to save their son.

Looks like the chick with the buggered liver may be in a spot of bother too. Why do I watch this show??...
 
Argh that was depressing last night :( Do they ever have a happy ending on this show? I thought Daniel might have been ok, they said he could go home then they showed him playing soccer with his mate smiling away, told us how he sat his year 12 exams and did very well ....... oh but he lost his fight and died in february!! I was shocked.

Karbo - I thought exactly the same thing. I can't even believe he was in a state of mind to actually be excited about the formal. As harsh as that may sound but if I was in his position I wouldn't give a crap about anything except getting healthy. Especially when the doctor is pushing you to have surgery ASAP. Parents really should've talked him out of it but in the end I'm not too sure if it would've even made a difference. How old was he? 18?

And yep the liver girl doesn't look good. :thumbsd:

I am not really a fan of this show at all, can't stomach seeing the operations, very weak stomach, but I watched it this week, very sad at the end when they showed him playing soccer so you think he ended up healthy, then they say he died.
Sorry to say but I will be suprised if the liver girl survives, having seen somebody go through a liver transplant, who was about the same age, and not surviving, they are a very easily rejected by the body and well, hard to come back from their. Heres hoping though
 
My mum loves the show, sits there glued to the screen no matter the nature of the operation, loves seeing how everything is done.

One of the more weirder things i saw occur on the show was an operation to get out all of this gunk from a person's stomache. It was caused from patting the family dog, and not washing his hands before eating :eek:.

The reaction of the doctor mid operation was priceless, thought he was going to pass out himself.


Also sad to read recently that Chris O'Brien's (former RPA doctor for those not aware) cancer was beginning to weaken him further.
