Do you think that Dean Cox would be up for trade and if he is what would be a fair trade for him??????

Perrie and something/someone else??????

Thoughts??????

P.S. At the end of the day I would rather have Cox than Lade;)

In all reality how the heck could the Paps even think about trading Lade what with the big ?? mark over Primus even making it through the pre-season let alone playing a full year,

Not keen on Cox Stiffy can't we look in the draft for a Rehn type ruckman or is the cupboard completely bare??

I can't say I've ever been terribly impressed by Cox.
He is not a world beater. He is still young (22) and has much more improvement in him than Lade or someone like that.

If we can get Cox I would be reasonably happy with out ruck stocks.

And if we land Holland at the right price, we would have a reasonable spine;)

From what I am hearing, Lade is out of contract and his managment has approached AFC. He believes that with Primus and Brogan fit, his chances at Alberton would be very limited. Port want to keep him. He is considering other options;)

The problem with the draft is that all of the ruckman are tap ruckman and none offer much around the ground. Bradley is the only one that is good in field play but we have no chance of getting him. He will go top 5 maybe even top 3.

Brent Hall is the pick of the rest. He is athletic tap ruckman who might develop his field play but in general is not known for his field play. Another thing about Hall is that he is probably not worth our 1st pick but its very unlikely to be available when our 2nd pick comes around. Unless we get our hands on early to mid 2nd round pick we might miss out.

Thank's for that Stiffy,

Oh well we always have our Ben to fall back on,:)

We cant give Perrie away. He is the future of this club.

TJ, if that's true, then we are roo ted!! ;)

Coming back to the topic at hand.

Cox is no star, but he's a damn sight better than Marsh and actually plays AFL. I agree with the young Stiffmeister that there is still improvement in Cox, and that he is a far better bet than Lade who is a lumbering dinosaur.

I think it's academic anyway because Woosha has publicly stated that he won't trade Cox - he's a required player.

I'd certainly have a crack at their young up and coming ruckman, Seaby, but I think that might be a lost cause too.

There's not much out there.

Beggers can't be choosers:(

We MUST get a back up ruckman. Holland would be a very good addition to defence.

If we can get Holland, a decent back up ruckman and of course keep our 1st 2 picks, I would be VERY happy. Might even give us a chance in going all the way.

I would really like to kee Bode but if we are to adress our deficiencies then I think we might have to trade him:(

The grass is always greener on the other side....

Cox is no better than Biglands and Clarke who is considered the best tap ruckman in the competition still has a year to go. I think we have other priorities before we start going after another ruckman who is no better than who we have now.

Why does he believe he will get better opportunity at Adelaide?

With Clarke and Biglands fit he will not get a game. The Biglands to defence stuff is a crock.

Lade is better than Marsh but realistically we are talking about a third or back up ruckman here who really shouldn't play more than five games (and probably less) in a season barring significant injury to our main two.

If AFC and Lade are seriously talking, there must be more to this than meets the eye. Could 2004 be Clarke's last year? If this were the case then we would not have time to develop a youngster. We would need an AFL ready ruckman in 12 months. Something that is pretty hard to come by at the moment.

napsyd, if you are a good tap ruckman that also offers a bit in field play and you are out of contract, wouldn't you look at other options?????? Who do you consider to be stiffer opposition for a game, Primus and Brogan, or Clarke and Biglands?????? I would suggest that Lade would be capable of keeping one of those out of the side if he plays somewhere near his best.

You are right. There is more than meets the eye. Next year is expected to be Clarke's last year so yes you are spot on when you say that we need someone that can take over in 12 months. No youngster can develop enough in 12 months to play consistent AFL footy unless we are talking about someone like Ottens;)

Stiffy, I don't blame him for looking around.

Personally I think his opposition for a spot would be similar at Port or Adelaide. If anything, Primus must now walk the park with an "injury prone" tag on his jumper and I would think Lade is more likely to get his 10+ games there than with us.

If he is really looking for a full time gig he would be better served looking at St Kilda or the Pies who basically have no decent ruckmen to speak of.

We have got to stop looking for stop gap measures and get the players we need through the draft using forward planning and initiative. Stop gap recruiting has not really served us well in the last few years. I know it's a general comment that does not solve this current dilemma, but its the facts.

I really don't like the idea of Lade coming to the Crows. I don't think we would be gaining much over Biglands/Clarke. Would be different if he were younger & hadn't buggared his knees.

One out of left field - what about Simmonds from Freo, who seems a bit of favour with Sandilands taking over. Would we entertain a swap for Perrie, as they could do with another key forward.

Sorry, buggered legs then.
That injury has healed by now. Stevens, Massie and Bicks have also had broken legs. Keating from Brisbane has leg fractures every year but is a bloody good ruckman:p

Having said all that Ottens for Goodwin will do me just fine:)
