THE AFL Commission has approved the new rushed behind rule as one of two changes to the laws of the game.

A free kick can now be given for a deliberately rushed behind, although the benefit of the doubt will go to the defender.

The Commission has also approved giving a free kick for dumping a player after they have disposed of the ball to stop them linking up with the play down the field.

==============================================

Gee.....that'll toughen the game up.

Like it's not quick enuff already.

Used to be a time when a player would be willing to take a late bump and pass it off as playing within the spirit of the game.

You were also allowed to dish it out if you had to take it.......all within the spirit of the game.

Problem now is,the game has lost it's spirit.

**** i hate the afl and the wog who runs it:thumbsd:

LMAO@ the lastest NFI rule change

I hate that one.

It is no where near clear what it actually is so every umpire will have a different interpretation.

Absolute crap.

frightening aint it PHX.

Moronic concept given there is such a huge, grey area surrounding both the interpretation and the limp wristed incentive to make such a change.

We needed to fix the rules we have at the moment, not bring in more idiotic ones. Hands in the back rule has made the game soft while these just ruin it even more. Why can't we just leave the rules alone? AFL should now be classified as a non-contact sport.

Agree, but l like to use the word diego... a filthy diego. Makes Lance Whitnall / Ronny McKeowen look like the fittest ex-players ever.

Has the wog got a neck?

You blokes should read what you write. It's a public forum, you both have a decent intellect ( I read both of your postings frequently enough). Why don't you leave the Anglo Saxon superiority comments between mates at the pub? Or just drop it altogether ?
There's a million things you can call the CEO, the 2 of you only need to think for a nano second longer to make it funnier without sounding like ugly Aussies...

I suppose tackling will be the next to go ... the u8's play a tougher brand of footy than this!! :o

Wait a couple of years and all the players will be wearing helmets, and we won't be keeping score because keeping scores and the notion of labeling a team and players as winners or losers can be detrimental for the growth of some players.
Goals may only be kicked after every player on the team has touched it, including the girl.
The telecast will have a 1 min delay so as to edit out any slip ups by players which of course once beamed across the country could have a negative effect on their self confidence.
The umpires will have to be directly related to the players and enforce strange rules on a whim so as to include any players who aren't having an impact.

And once the teams have finished playing, which of course with no siren or timekeeping could take hours depending on how tired they got(the negative effect of deadlines and time restraints was removed so as to allow players as much time as they need to use their skills and become better), they all go to Maccas and get happy meals.

Any rule change is a bad rule change.

Why does the rush behind rule come in? Because the players don't have to wait for the flags to be waved... remember that one AFL?

The players actually do need a rest during the game. Its getting to the point where its too fast and we'll see players burn out quicker and having shorter careers - Richo being the exception. ;)

This will take its toll somewhere - it has to. Different body types will be phased out. We might have 1 ruckman in our game who wonders around being tall (Sandilands) and the rest will just be athletes. This game is being to grow into a farce.

Leave the rules ****ing alone and **** the NAB cup because all it does is introduce shit footballing methods.

The slinging rule will be a farce aswell. Like a poster above said, its far too much interpretation. Touch the player after they dispose and it will be a free kick. What a joke.

I was just thinking about it and thought even though one or both of the rules could be a total failure and ruin the game you can't really blame the AFL 100%. The NAB Cup is in place to trial rules and they did just that then put foward the rules to be intoduced but... not before they got approval / opinion of all the AFL clubs / coaches. None of the captains said no in the poll, was 12 yes and 4 unsure and they wouldn't of brought it in if the coaches and clubs said no so obviously most are in favour.

Go and watch basketball if you want to see the future of the AFL. Only difference is we can use our feet.

Hell, we even have a shot clock. We flood all our players back exactly the same as basketball and let the opponent try to penetrate trough the defence.

Whats next Barnzy? Time out.... because the players are too tired from running?

You know what's wrong with that? The public, the fans....the people in the stands....we don't want the game ****ed with, where's our representation. Without us, none of it would be possible.

If you ran an ice-cream factory you wouldn't put ripples of wasabi through your Cornetto because 12 of the people on the floor said they liked it and 4 were unsure, without consulting with the people who actually eat it?

The AFL changes the game on a yearly basis these days and tells us to like it. We like it because it hadn't changed for 100 years prior to Andy D and Anderson taking over.

I'm not disagreeing with you I'm just saying you can't really blame the AFL completely. Clubs obviously wanted the rule introduced for some unknown reason. All I know is it impacts on us negatively as we do normally handball a lot of rushed behinds. Also will put more emphasis on defensive fowards pressuring and keeping the ball in their foward 50, something we are not good at.

I think you're looking at it too specifically Barnzy. As my main man D.Frawl would say, "Raise your eyes".

It's like this...

I tell you that there are going to be 3 possible additions to our staff and you will be deciding who the addition will be.
I then unveil 3 turds, neatly placed on a silk sheet.
You have to choose one.
They're all turds,ffs!
You have no option other than to cast your vote in favor of a smelly piece of shit.

The problem is the short-sightedness exercised by the afl in creating worthwhile options.
A frightening display of something worse than ignorance-a simple case of NFI.

The nurturing of the game is the hands of Edward Scissorhands.

LMAO, but they won't be able to eat oranges at half time! :o
