I'll tell you how I felt, arriving at Kingsford Smith in Sydney, turning my phone on and getting a message telling me Craig had been appointed for three years - felt like throwing my phone against the terminal wall and stomping on it.
How the hell could a coach as good as Eade be let go and bloody Craig be hired? That article by Rucci was a pile of self-justifying crap. He was on the attack, yet with no facts to back himself up, yet again.
All I'll say is how can a person who leads a team to its WORST EVER defeat inside his first few games, be allowed to coach a team for three years? Tha should be the clincher. Sure, he claimed he didn't want to shut down the game (though I would want to if it was blowing out that badly), yet the very next week he responds with the most negative, nasty, shut-down football imaginable...WHAT?!
All I can say is we should expect three years of mediocrity...performances like Richmond and Hawthorn in the 1990s will be our benchmark level I'd imagine. Craig has little flair or ideas in his coaching for my mind. Like Ayres, he is barely even REactive, let alone PROactive on matchday - something we had a chance to change by hiring Eade.
Oh well.
