gee plugger i thought you were a loyal darno man but i must be wrong when the season looks to be a tough one you will run away will you? why in the hell would chandler want you to fellow him?

You dont know me pukka so pull your head in. Running away is not something I do. Unlike mercenaries like yourself, I could have done that 4-5 years ago when we were being beaten by 145pts a game, but I stuck.

The job is now complete. Time for someone else to carry the can to keep the club going. I am not the only one that has called it a day at the club. It is a new era and providing the club can develop it's juniors under the guidance, hopefully, of Shane Price, the future looks to be good.

pukka you are being a bit harsh on plugger. From what I have heard he has given good service to Darnum. Pretty sure he has been there for over 10 years and has helped out with coaching and committee roles. If he wants to move on, now is probably the time, while they are on top. No-one can have a go at him for leaving the club in a time of need.

And not 100% up on gippsland geography but he lives in Moe, which is a fair way from Darnum I think. It would probably be a bit hard to travel that far just to watch with his career nearly at an end.

Nothing "Nearly" about it Jake. At 37 I reckon with broken legs, collar bones, ribs, compound dislocations of various fingers, a knee reconstruction in 2008, not to mention the pulverising I took in the elim final, my playing days are over.

Having said all that, 1995-2000, 2003-2009, 9 years as either a coach or assistant, 10 years on committee (5 on exec), I have served my time. Most of those above injuries happened whilst at Darnum and I have probably missed a combined total of 100 games from injury. I should have missed more but under Gary Smart, I continued to play with 2 hernias because I couldnt say no to him, such was his passion.

Moe is 3 towns from Darnum and it seems a lot longer when you have had a few beers and you have your car with you, I can tell you.

There may be something on the horizon between me and Darnum sooner rather than later but I will not divulge any details at this point.

One thing I believe, and this is for all you mercenaries out there, is that you should always leave the club you are at, in a better way than when you got there. In 1995 we finished 3rd, in 2009 we finished 1st. I am done. Thanks for the support, Jake.

You are the oldest 37 year old i have ever seen. I would have said nearly 50, and thats not being silly.

Sorry to shy a little away from EDFL but has anyone heard much on the Warragul and Drouin front? Many known arrivals/departues at this early stage??

Get over yourself Plugger. Many people have supported 1 club their whole lives, had similar achievements to yourself and never felt the need to pat themselves on the back. They did it for the love of the club, you seem to be after some sort of public recognition. Would a tickertape parade through the town centre satisfy you?

Not a chance with either.

However, word from the horses mouth has told me Cora Lynn have decided to approach some of the best players in the comp, with blank cheques, in a mission to win next years flag. Could be interesting who they get.

IMO they'll be a massive chance with the side they've already got.

Cora Lynn have signed former Hawthorn and Essendon player Barry Young.

Rumour has it that Urie and James were approached but have decided to stay put.

Cora Lynn are a joke. What are they doing signing a 40 year old? If it were Robert Harvey or Craig Bradley or someone of similar ilk I could understand. But Barry Young of all people? He was just a dirty sniper when he played anyway. He never really had any talent.

Is Alger the similar ilk as Robert Harvey and Craig Bradley. At 46 give it away and give the kids a go.

Vidovic would be huge for the league. He is the sort of player that would bring people through the gate. Cummings was a massive recruit (literally). He would nearly be on a par with Vidovic for me. Michael got people through the gates for a couple of weeks before the novelty wore off. Young last as he is a dirty sniper. I bet his mother wouldn't even come to watch him.

Anyway it is all academic because the Vidovic deal fell through at the last minute.

Sorry to break up EDFL party but bit of news from North Gippy -Glengarry
Josh King (Seniors) Mick Gahan (Ressies) Rob Cahill (3RDS)

This was not in the Pakenham Gazette. Me thinks Bombo is full of shit.

I agree, I haven't heard a single thing about this, goes against everything the club learnt from the Ty esler experience! On Ty, nice photo in the gazette of him and Shane Mumford from a few years back!
