running 5kms @ 14.14 mins x 8 times over is just beyond belief (running 1km @ 2.51 - geeeeez). Most parkrun winners dont get close to sub 15 mins for a single 5km. Kipchoge is an absolute freak. Here are the 5k splits he hit.

the whole thing was meant to be a big marketing exercise for those new Nike shoes.
it turned out to be a great marketing exercise for Eliud Kipchoge.

i dont think the shoes made one bit of difference. it didnt seem to help the other 2...like you say, he's just a freak.

Wings for Life last night, managed just over 42.6ks. Pissed down rain for the first half, and a bit of an uphill slog for the first 11kms, but then quite flat. Unique experience, was great early on with lots of people around, but for the last half it had thinned out and felt strange running along the freeway virtually alone out in the dark. Well organised and a good turnout - I think around 3000 for Melbourne.

Wow great work mate. What sort of pace was that 42.6ks? From memory anything over 15-20kms required a pretty decent pace so 42 is excellent.

Watch every step you take, tree roots have a habit of tripping you up and foot placement is important on tricky trails. Don't be fussed about walking up the steep hills. Wear trail shoes if you can, much better grip, esp if wet and you don't tend to feel the rocks through them. Don't worry about pace per km, just enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Two weeks til Perth marathon and feeling pretty good.
Anyone else got any races coming up?

Doing Run Melbourne half mara late July and Wonderland 36k trail run in August.

Doing the longest run next Sunday..... 7 freedom run parkrun in one day. Doing the gippsland version starting at Traralgon at 6:30am I think and final run at Frog Hollow (Endeavour Hills) at 4:30pm I think.

7 freedom park runs sounds awesome! As a North supporter no problem to plan runs for September. Surf coast century 100 is on for Sep, with You Yangs 42 or 50 in July, and the SCC training legs in June, July and August.
