Darren, how did NYC go? Did you get your body right for it?
hey mate, yeah got it done! wasn't my quickest marathon but was a fair bit quicker than Berlin which I was happy with, given all the issues and uncertainty in the lead up and the problems that I had there. I wasn't focussed at all on time really, so just ran completely by feel and more than anything just trying to enjoy the day. the crowds are just so amazing in NYC, its really intense the whole way. but the run is very difficult, its a tough course particularly the second half, but more so all the logistics of getting out to SI for the start takes forever, I was up at 4.30am and didn't finish the run until 3pm, and finally back at my hotel (which was only 2k from the finish area) by around 4.15pm. my body felt pretty broken afterwards, and it still does 4 days later, but that might also be because of all the beer and American food ive smashed since then!
