Time to devote a thread to one of the greatest rock/prog bands of all time.
The mighty Canadian trio Rush.
Grew up with this band as I'm sure alot of you have that love this group.

I'm going to start with a track from their latest album because it's a scorcher.

Get cracking fellow Rush freaks!

I still like Permanent Waves and Hemispheres a bit. Haven't bothered with the new one yet, but I remember liking Snakes And Arrows, even though I only listened to it the month it came out.

Liked them a lot in high school!

I've just about forgotten what Rush sounds like nor whether it still existed.

Been getting into the new Flower Kings album recently.
Love the album by them Paradox Hotel.Hey,this is a Rush thread.

Tell us a little about Rush, Smasha.

Often regarded as one of the best live acts around, have they still got it?
Can Geddy still make that bass sing?
Have you seen them live?

Never seen em live.
Have all their old vinyls and pretty much grew up with them.
A school friend of mine who came here from Manchester England got me into them in 1980 and I was hooked especially me being a drummer.

Played in a band(drums)in the early 80s and we did a few Rush covers Limelight and Zanadu being two of them.
I even had the temple blocks back then lol.

The old School Of Audio Engineering in St Kilda(Allan Eaton studios).
Used to jam Rush,Purple Sabbath,Ac/Dc anything rock and had the studio to ourselves on the weekend because our bass player was one of the lecturers there.

He was a maori Kiwi and moved to England, the guitarist moved to Germany in a metal band and I joined a metal band also then played covers 5 nights a week after that.
Here's the guitarists site.

Top player.

Great ole days.

We used to go across the road and play pinball during our break and eat hotdogs.

Geddy still has it on the bass.
One of the greatest bassists in rock imho.

I love his work also and surely must be regarded as one of the best.
Thanks for the write up Smasha. That sure sounds like good old days to me.

Why would Rush not tour here? Not enough fans?
Shame as they're doing a North American and European tour, but just can't seem to make it here.

Probably too expensive to bring their show over.
A real shame.
They would still fill the tennis centre a few times I reckon.

I hope it's not politics from this side of the World.

I'm going to pretend to be the biggest Rush fan. I don't think I have heard anything after "Moving Pictures".

This is, to me - and I try to refrain from using this word too often - just epic. Every single second of it:

I'm very fond of this song too:
