Yup. Malthouses over emphasis on defense seems to be seriously hurting our attack now. Turning one of our most promising key forward prospects into a defender when we're already overflowing with options back there? When our key forward prospects all have question marks still over their heads?

Mind boggling. Defense is good, but we're smarting for some good attacking options right now.

Except that Bucks will be following him closely after having played finals football with him. MM isn't the only person to have his favourites/bias.

This thread is making me quite angry TBH.

I can't understand why a bloke who has shown so much potential to be a great forward would come back from injury to start to be groomed into a defender.

We have Presti who is in his twilight however there is Nathan Brown, Ben Reid, Leigh Brown, Maxwell, Harry, and Goldsack off the top of my head who are all taller than Rusling and can all play defense.

At the other end we have Cloke, Jack and Dawes.

On top of this it is plain as day that our greatest weakness right now is our forward line. We don't have the fire power if our smalls are not firing. To take such a gifted forward and try and change him now makes no sense.

Forward is where we are struggling the most and our deffence is great and we have possibly Reid Or Brown who COULD replace presti when he retires or we can go and trade for one. On the weekend rusling took 2-3 pack marks in deffence, which is what we need in our forward line and plus he has shown he is a good goal kicker. The bloody coaching staff are nuts they have to work it out that he cant play on someone its not the way he plays.

I hope Buckley can have a say for who gets delisted at the end of the year because he has the job for 2012 and onwards so he should get a say on how he wants the list to look when he takes over.

Gavin Brown's comments on the cfc website suggest Rus will still be playing down back and will "adjust" down there.

Totally agree.

We know we have deficiencies up forward. He has shown that he is a promising forward (apart from injuries) yet we chuck him in the back line where we are already settled and have Goldy Brown & Reid waiting in the wings as well. The poor bloke will be stiff to ever get an AFL game as a backman. Got absolutely destroyed by Little on the weekend. If I was him I would be looking for a job come October if the powers that be keep him in the back line.

Very rarely do you get an issue that doesn't only have the entire Collingwood board agreeing on, but polarises us at that.

If we can get Ruz fit, and he's on the way at this stage (touch wood), he needs to be given a go in the forward line, especially if Jack gets dropped (which he was).

An explaination at this point would be excellent.

It a ridiculous idea to play him down back, if anything I would rather see him go forward and Jack play in the backline.

Such a valuable player for us up forward and being absolutely wasted down back.

I'm certain the club views Russa as a fwd..this is the process of easing him back into footy. Lets all hope he gets through a few games and works his way into senior contention...as a forward...Thought his field kicking looked OK, he's a bit of a mechanical kick, but, he can convert well. No need to stress the importance on that........
