I have heard that the Doggies are very keen on Russell Robertson. Apparently he is not happy at Melbourne which has resulted in his poor early season form.

I'm a Doggies fan and I wouldn't mind getting him as long as it's for the right price. What would you guys want in return for a player like Robertson?

... to be honest with you, that's probs just a rumour... i don't think it'd be too true at the point in time! he said he's been trying, but the ball just hasn't gone his way. my bet is that he'll end up staying with the dees...

but in answere to ya question, um, gianciracusa (SP?) or brown, or Bandy... and robbins. any of those i guess... but thats just what i think!! i'd prefer to keep robbo however.

That is the biggest load of crap ive ever heard! His poor form has nothing to do with him being unhappy, more like just poor form, he will pick up!

Gee I'd hate to lose Robbo but I guess getting "The other Nathan Brown" would soften the blow somewhat :D.

Gee, you're pushing it BT ;)
We wont get of Nathan Brown, not for Robbo anyway. The Bulldogs wont get rid of middle aged players like Browny, so dont even thing about it :o

However, Im not saying whether what Rocco was saying was true or false, im just saying that alot of teams would be after him. He is a young player, around about 23 (someone please clarrify that for me) I am a HUGE fan or Robbo, and would fit very nicely into the Bulldogs side!

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell... i'd assume that most clubs would be after him... he's a really good player when in form.
yes, robbo is 23, and i can almost assure you that robbo isn't going anywhere for the time being.

I think I'd be willing to trade robbo for Browny (The bulldogs one) but I somehow doubt that trade would ever happen! :p

it was confusing enough last night!
i was listening on the radio and they are like 'brown ahs the ball'
and i'm like- well thats great... mind telling me WHICH brown:rolleyes:
and tehre was someone else with the same name.. if forget who now
but i don't thin a certain person woukld be too happy witha RObbo/brown trade ;)

ok well look at it this way, as much as i'd hate to say it, he isnt safe down at melbourne. none of the players are. Thats the thing these days players arent assured a position at the club. No matter what happens, if another club puts up a better offer then why shouldnt they trade him? Football is a business and the footy dept need to make the most of their choices and do what is right for the business.

Having said that i dont think melbourne would rade robbo, but then again we dont always do the best when it comes to trading and drafting etc, we tend to make monumental stuff ups. just look at the past

From what i have heard and i bet he luvs people saying this **** about him. he is happy at demonland and he wants to stay. however i agree with what Dee said, that footy is a business and u dont know where u could end up, u have no say in it.

If Robertson is thinking at Round 5 what he is going to do next year, then he has huge problems. In saying that, it is only Round 5 so there is plenty of time for him to pick up.

Hehehehehehehe oh thats so funny coz its such a crock of sh#t! :D
Whoever told you he is unhappy in Melbourne was either drunk or on some sort of drugs. Robbo is very happy with Melbourne, he loves the club, the players and every he is involved with and Melbourne are not about to trade him. His poor form has had to do with off field and on field problems but I can assure you that the off field problems have got NOTHING to do with not being happy at Melbourne.

Exactly, you've hit the jackpot!
Its round 5, and no one is thinking about trades at this point in time. Robbo has had 3 bad games, big deal! Took Melbourne 5 years to finally trade Grgic, so why the hell would they trade Robbo after 3 games? I'm very very confused!

I actually heard that one floating around the ground.

Before the game I was sitting near a few doggies people, and they claim that the Doggies are real keen on Robbo, and that there are rumblings about him down at Melbourne. Rocco must have ehard these too. We chatted briefly about it, but not alot was discussed.

So, it does seem that there is something going on. And no matter who the player is, they are NOT going to tell anyone, especially fans, that they are unhappy etc. They don't want it getting out, and it then looks bad.

I am not saying this is true, but it would not surprise me in the slightest.

But like dees01 said, why on earth would they be talking trades in round 5? I know the doggies still haven't won a game and Robbo has had a bad start but I mean still thats a bit rushed in my opinion.
I never said Robbo would tell his fans if he was unhappy. Something is certainly going on but it has nothing to do with the club, and I while Robbo is certainly not protected against trading, I doubt very much that Melbourne will trade him or that they even thought about trading him this early into the season.

I am of the belief that we wanted to trade him in the pre season just gone. If anyone was going to be used as trade bait, it would be him. Bruce, Green, Vardy etc do alot more than him, and Robbo is one dimensional. He can only play forward. Plus he is very, and I do mean very, incosistent.

I guess they figure they might get rid of him while they can still get something for him, and the Doggies do need a key forward.

I am not saying it's true, but like I said, it would not surprise me.

Dees01 actually said that he would be worried if Robbo was thinking about changing clubs this early in the year, and not about what the club was thinking. :p
Having said that, I'm sure the club constantly reviews the players and their performances, and may (I emphasis the word may) even be thinking about possible trade bait.
Robbo is not sacred or protected at the club, this is shown by the fact Vardy has over-taken him as our #1 small forward. Although I doubt he will be traded (if they wanted to trade him, the best chance was last year) I wouldn't rule it out completely.

He is good trading bait no doubt about it, but he is a very big part of Melbourne not just on field. I love it how he has a few bad games and all of a sudden he has the whole world jumping on his head. Every single player has the right to have a bad spell, and while Robbo tends to be inconsistent, he was very good for us last year, he was our leading goal kicker for anyone who forgot. Come trading period we can talk, but I think its far too early to think about anything of that nature at the moment. Lets see how Robbo goes for the rest of the season before we jump to any conclusions.

First things first, there is no way the Dogs would even consider swapping Nathan Brown for Robbo. Nathan Brown is one of their top playmakers and to swap him for a player who is currently struggling to get a game is just stupid.

Robbo might be happy at Melbourne, but if he continues to struggle in getting a game youve gotta start questioning his value to the team. If we can get a player who can contribute to the side more than what Robertson can, we'd be crazy not to look at a possible trade.

Just looking through the Bulldogs list and maybe Nathan Eagleton, Jordan McMahon and Robert Murphy look like reasonable deals...what do the dogs fans think?

Then again, Schwarz, Nietz and Vardy arent the youngest players on our list and trading Robertson could come back to bite us on the backside.
