Let's discuss him.

Dominates the grade comp. Made 71 for SA in the current match, but took no wickets and more or less got tonked.

Is he worth persisting with?

Seems regularly useless with the bat and is batted with the tail, a sign of zero confidence (Bailey bats ahead of him), and his bowling has been useless at state level except in 20/20s.

Not convinced he is of any benefit to the Redbacks.

Last ball 6 to win the game v Queensland does it for me ;) Give him a go, but if not I'd like t see Mark Cleary given an opportunity again or is he injured?

He is very inconsistent with the bat, his 71 was good, and of course the 6 off the last ball against the Bulls was orgasmic. He is a reasonably quick bowler but he just does not seem to take any wickets and thats what he needs to do. Not sure who else we can bring in... but we don't really need the allrounder as Bailey fills this position.

I've been told Bailey opens the batting for Sturt, he has serious ability with the bat aswell as ball.

I think Cleary is a better bowler and a better bat personally.

As opposed to the benifit of having MARK COSGROVE in the side ???
At least RHYNO has showed a bit of pride and fight this year !!!!

Oh please. Even this season Cosgrove > Harris.

More runs and probably more wickets too.

you'd be right.

Cleary has been shafted this season, particuarly in the one day competition.

Always contributed but for some reason has been constantly overlooked this season.

You're all kidding right? Cleary better than R.Harris? No, just.... no.

Harris averages 60 at grade cricket and bowls well too. He has made ******** ******** all runs since coming into the SA side I agree (apart from today) but Cleary has had his chance. His batting is disgraceful (worse than Manou) and his bowling is nothing special.

Having said that, Harris is nothing special either but should be in the side ahead of Cleary without a doubt.

Yeah, no.

Cleary is hopeless in Pura Cup and not overly impressive in one dayers. I remember one of his last games we needed runs in the final 2 overs. Some one kept bowling bouncers so what does Cleary do? He ducks under them  Swing the ********ing bat Cleary.

Yep, we lost the game. :thumbsd:

You're off your nut.

Cleary averages 21.12 with the bat, including a 100, in the first-class comp.

As a bowler he averages a very respectable 32.4 with the ball, excellent S/R 53.78.

There's a reason he was picked for Australia A.

Harris, on the other hand, is older, averages, after this match, 14.39 with the bat. With the ball, he averages over 50 with a S/R over 90.

Please don't claim he is better than Cleary.

Mmm yes and when did Cleary score that 100? Was it when the match was dead and meant nothing? I think yes yes. :thumbsu:

Cleary wont play again for SA, and rightly so :thumbsu:

So you rubbish the 100, but can't answer anything else?

Cheap.

Well... Harris is very good in the field.

I mean the mediocre side that we are we could do with a specialist fieldsman that can occasionally bat/bowl well.

No it wasn't. You are bagging him and you don't even have a clue what you're talking about.

Shameful! You are so bloody clueless you attack Cleary when his 100 was made in the first innings, in partnership with Lehmann, building a total which helped us beat Tasmania outright!

OH OH OH! You got pounded right here! :o

How the hell did we make 580?

Ok so I was wrong the match wasn't dead like I thought it was, but we didn't need his century, we were gonna win without it anyway :D

But still, that's one decent score. Whoopdee dooooooo

He has 1 hundred and 2 fifties at an average of 21. A handy lower-order hitter.

His bowling figures are excellent.

You've got nothing. Now you're resorting to bagging a player who got 100 in a key innings.

Cleary will never play for SA again, that's what I've got. :thumbsu:

Harris has more ability than he knows.

He owns both Rofe and Cleary in Grade cricket with bat and ball. Just can't seem to translate that into first class cricket atm but he has only just been given a chance, so I think we should persist with him for now. Alnost always takes 5 wickets an innings in grade cricket, always far too good for that level. Seems to have Mark McGough syndrome.

Rofe is a better bowler in that he is smarter and knows how to get wickets and is more experienced. Just that his batting is a bit on the poor side and unfort his bowling hasn't been as good lately.

I also heard national selectors were keen on Adcock for his all round abilities with bat, ball and in the field. Very interesting....massive talent as a junior and left to waste in grade cricket, getting a bit old now for national honours...needs to solidify himself at state cricket yet...

Bit like plenty of players had better stats at domestic level than McGrath or Warne, but just weren't as good. Harris is a grade cricket bully, first class hack.

but he has only just been given a chance, so I think we should persist with him for now.

He's been in the system for years and failed consistently...

When has he had a chance to bowl lately?

You kidding? He is way too old...and he is an utter hack. He wasn't 'left to waste', he was given plenty of chances and failed consistently.

I was impressed with Cleary when I saw him play. The Aussie selectors saw something in him as well.. was picked in the Aussie A side. Bailey- Maybe a bolwing all-rounder? Warnie similarity again. If Cam White can just work on his bolwing just a bit.. White and Bailey combination will be good to watch.
