How fustrating is Lonie?

He kicked a super goal, tackled reasonably well. But he doesn't get enough of the football, and he doesn't go in for the hard ball - another Leon Davis.

I hope he has a big year, because we know he is capable of doing anything on his day.

Lonie is and will always be an outside player. We don't give him the ball enough to utilise his skills.

Yeah, he is a fustrating player, and has been his entire career. He is soft, and always takes a backward step...something he needs to work on. Is a best 22 player you would probably say, but he could be much better if he wasn't what we saw yesterday.

Seriously he could become a useful forward and be used like Brad Pearce was in carltons team once upon a time. Tall and fast very hard to stop.

First of all, who is we? Collingwood, Essendon or North Melbourne?

Secondly, there is another guy around here called Jimmy Gwilt which you would think would be a St Kilda supporter,
but he half barracks for Collingwood and half for Essendon.

What is going on here.....

Oh, and sorry to hijack the thread....

What i dont understand is that Woewodin coudl always get plenty of the ball and he was a slow, courageless outside player. Why cant lonie do the same? Dare i say that he would use and carry the ball a whole lot better then most in our team? Any answers?

Ryan often presents himself but is rarely supplied with the ball. Take a close look at him next time you see him play, he finds space by himself but is ignored...what a waste, he can kick 60m on the run and is capable of kicking 30 to 40 goals a year if used correctly.

Yes he is frustrating. But he had a job on Sunday and did it pretty well to shut out Del Santo. Not your average hack, although he looked a little overweight to me.

Now that we have more options for HBF with Maxwell, JA and OBrien maybe a tagging role will suit Lonie. He is disciplined. And while he is soft, his other weakness is finding the footy. Maybe tagging good players will lead him to the ball and eventually he can learn to shut down and get the ball himself. Hard to see it though.

He played pretty well tonight I thought. He definitely needs to get more of the ball more often, but he uses it so well that he's just gotta be in the starting 18. If we have a good year this year, he'll have a good year.
