Cheers mate...Welcome aboard.

Yeah thanks Manton

Has anyone else noticed we seemed to have continued on the theme from the ND at drafting 'hard at it' players - Nye and Hinge. 'Prettier' faster or more skillful players like Pearce and Juniper have been overlooked.

Cant be a bad thing can it

No it can't.

Along with a few others from this board i have been crying out loud for a couple of years now for some hard nut mongrels who can play the game so hopefully our club has gone someway to squaring up the ledger.

Welcome aboard to our young rookies in Griffen, Nye & Hinge.

Good article. Hope it's all true.

Plenty of time, good vision, a sweeper, good skills both sides, run out of defence.

B.Hart anyone?

Woops I just posted a similar comment on another thread. I agree with you 100%. It can never be a bad thing.

Here is Colin Wisbey's profile on Nye.

FWIW, Colin rates him at #35 out of all the possible draftees.

I noticed in that profile that Colin says he has only seen Nye play one and a half games. Impossible to make a reasonable judgement based on that. Gee, I hope all his other profiles are based on seeing them a whole lot more than that. Otherwise why bother?

I know, and obviously that means its silly to put much belief into what Wisbey says about Nye.

As for other profiles, I would assume he would see a hell of a lot more of the other kids who are based in Victoria, as Nye is from WA.

From Inside Football's Guide to the Draft 3/11/04

Ryan Nye
181cm, 79 kg, DOB 2/6/86

"He is an athletic half back who is a great reader of the game. When he came back from the national championships, he had a bad knee that required a minor knee operation so he missed out on the colts Premiership. Brilliant skills either side." Peel Thunder General Manager Phil Clohesy.

Perhaps the knee injury was a factor in Ryan being overlooked in the ND. At 181 cm, I cant see him doing a third tall type job that Hart does. More of a Massie/Torney type role on a HBF. Time will tell.

At that height he is purely a small, no doubt.

Which is why it is slightly bemusing to read James Fantasia saying he could 'play on smalls and talls' - perhaps just stretching the truth in the midst of a positive initiation.

:) I also have been looking for some hard at it players - cannot be a coincidence that this element has been a component of our trading profile this year.

Not sure we have addressed the speed issue yet, but welcolme Nye, Griffen and Hinge - I hope you all work hard and get an opportunity.
