...is officially:

A) The worst suspension I have witnessed in my time of watching football

B) The most embarrassingly inconsistent and contradictory ruling made by any sporting tribunal / review panel ever.

How the **** can Ryder get weeks for a punch less forceful than one that was last week deemed "not strong enough to constitute a strike"? Honestly, how? It doesn't make an ounce of ****ing sense. Are these guys actually for real?

Please tell me I'm not the only one that is absolutely baffled by this suspension.

If Jordan Lewis gets rubbed out twice in a year for a love tap to the stomach Ryder deserved a week.. The games went soft just the way it is now

I can understand how an Essendon supporter would feel that way, given that Thuggery has always been an essential part of your club's strategy.

Heck, even Kevin Sheedy was a renowned dirty bast*rd in his playing days at Richmond and he certainly trained his Essenscum kids to play the man when it looked like they weren't good enough to win.

Oh diddums....

Do you honestly expect any sympathy from opposition fans ???

Whether Hawthorn or Essendon made eighth spot, both were going to get smashed in the first final (especially given that they have to travel to Adelaide). This just makes it more of a foregone conclusion.

Bloody whinging Scum supporters, suck it up princess.

Bosk let's not go over the top. Ryders hit was pretty soft. But if Ryder got a week for that then Rance deserved a week or Ryder deserves no weeks. Yet again showing the inconsistancy of the MRP.

Ryder was stupid and was always going to get a week.

Lining up what Ryder did and what Bateman did. How the hell did Bateman only get one. The two incidents are in a different ball park.

Bateman rather fortunate to only be getting one. Didn't look like minimal contact to me.

Punch to the head's been reportable for a long time, no matter how soft.
The punch to buddy's face in the richmond game got no report, so the AFL has completely lost the plot, if they can call out Ryders.
I thought if anything he may've got reported for the front on contact in a marking contest that he made contact to the head.
Who knows anymore.

It was highlighted a fair bit during the week that he might be in trouble, does anyone reckon that actually effects the decision at all? Thought he was a bit unlucky.

No - i agree - They are inconsistent to the point it becomes a roll of the dice whteher you get off or not.

There's been a few 'interesting' posts made by Hawk and Bomber fans over the last few days but this just about takes the cake.

I was pretty pissed off at the way Campbell Brown handled himself after the game making threats and questioning the captain of a team that had just ended his season...But at least you have made me laugh now. Thanks!

I have been saying it for 18 months to my mates who care to listen, if you want a contact sport come to Olympic Park and watch rugby league.
Good on Essendon for making the finals, but it could get very, very ugly on Friday night.

He probably deserved a week because he punched someone in the jaw/chin...

But hey, don't let facts get in the way.

Didn't stop Rance from not having a case to answer the weekend before last. Nor Hodge on the weekend who gave Lonergan a jab on the chin.

Bateman gave Lloyd a swinging coathanger and gets offered the same penalty and he doesn't have anywhere near a clean record as Ryder does.

I think Essendon should contest both the Ryder and Lonergan charges.

Putting all bias and emotion away (Hawks supporters especially), this is a joke. If something like that is reportable, then high tackles should be too.

Demetriou should, for once in his insignificant life, stand up and do something about it. Otherwise he'll be remembered for killing our game.

Bit stiff I would say, but you win some/ lose some. NLM got away with one and Ryder didn't. Could have been missing both.
