I fear that you may be right, OrangeStroker. Some of the points you make are spot on - especially about his poor awareness. However, he has had serious time out with injuries though.

Despite my huge desire that he makes it, lives up to the hype and becomes a star - I am yet to see too many signs of it. He got called up against The Aints (? I think) after a shocker in the WAFL the week before. The match committee obviously see the potential.

lets be honest, he hasnt had that many injuries. he broke his collarbone about round 9 last year but he was strugging before that. i have always been interested in dunn because both he and waters seem to be similar types and picked up very close in the draft.

he was recruited as a midfielder but has been playing back pocket for the sharks. i think he came out and said he wanted to play that role in the senior side. to be it seems a waste but he obviously knows best. he certainly hasnt shone for the sharks this year but playing in the back pocket its not easy to shine.

in his AFL games so far he hasnt seemed to adapt to the tempo very well. im not sure if that was due to his pace or awareness.
Leading up to the draft Freo were very keen on Waters and Dunn was said by some to be top 5. Dunn "slipped" to 10 so Freo jumped at him. IMO if Dunn was gone I think we would have drafted Waters. Dunn at that time was a two time u18 AA, he was highly rated (the "genius" that is Wisbey had him as one of the best in the whole draft) so Freo got him.

Its early days but right now I'd take Waters or Butler in a flash for Dunn.

We're not offering them.

Was a Cardies man in his younger days... but really didn't follow football all that closely until I brainwashed him!! He's an English Lit teacher, so more of a wordsmith than a sportshead!

My two daughters have followed in my footsteps and support Souths, so Mr Purple lends his support to the young fella and has developed a liking for the Sharks.

Erudite and enlightened (like yer standard Cardies fan) but succumbed to corrupting influences.

Derby days must be entertaining in your household IP.

WAFL derbies are fine at the moment - particularly seeing Souths haven't lost one since the little tacker became a Shark. Took him to Freo Oval to watch a derby on that fateful day in 2001, resplendant in his red and white; and by half time he had decided that he was going for the Sharks. I humoured him, had a laugh and expected that at the end of the game, which ended in a 10 goal shellacking of the hapless gummies, that he would do as most 4 year olds would, and jump back on the winning team. But no, he has stayed true to his beloved Sharks ever since and good on him.

The defining moment for me as a parent and footy supporter came soon after. My husband is related to the Gaspars, and on the advice of his cousin (who was 5 at the time and therefore "knew everything" in the eyes of my then 4 year old), my son decided that he would support his big cousin Travis. He announced that he was now an Eagles supporter.

Now, East Freo I could handle.... but the Evils from up the road - never in a bezillion years. Within 2 days, he had a brand new Freo beanie and had been down to training to see the Freo boys in action. As luck (and fate) would have it, one Matthew Pavlich stopped for a chat at the end of the session, and signed a poster for him. He was back - his dalliance with the dark side was over, and he has stayed true to the ways of the purple ever since. :)

My God!

And you're actually proud of that?

Where did I put that number for Child Welfare ....

Considering the level of intellect and the sub-standard species of human that passes for most WCE supporters on the BF boards these days, the answer is a most resounding:

YES!

IP, I can see you in a couple of years vetting your youngsters girlfriends.

"I don't care what clothes they wear, whether they've got rings through their nose & nethers, drives a Lada etc .... but don't you dare bring a girl through the front door who follows the Evils".

Well, one has to maintain some standards!! ;)

Believe me when I say I am as appalled as you at some of the exchanges over the last week.

Hopefully they are a vocal minority.

Graceless, ignorant and deeply offensive to all rational and measured footy fans.

I believe you Ex - it's the "old school" regular WCE supporters who have my respect as reasonable human beings - it goes without saying that you are among those few.

im pretty sure you will be offered a 1st round pick for dunn if you are willing to trade him. that isnt that bad a deal considering most vic recruits return home at some stage and dunn hasnt done much. personally, i wouldnt be rushing to sign him up. id wait and see what you will get because you will get pretty good offers. just aslong as he doesnt want to go into the PSD. that could be a problem if he isnt signed.

We took him at pick 10. I would be happy for freo to get pick 10 for a trade involving Dunn. But i would prefer to keep him. He is two years older than any recruit we could pick up and is likely to have an impact far sooner. Though Schammer has stepped straight in from pick 13 i think.

Gawd Purple you had me breaking out in a cold sweat there for a minute.
One from those blood stained angels to the sharks and another from God's chosen to the powder puffs up the road.
Child abuse/parent abuse. Another success for Pav.

On the Dunne trail I have to say I'm one that hasn't been impressed by what he has done since his arrival. As has been mentioned he just doesn't have any pace and in our side that's a problem.
One certainly has to assume that he is considering his options to return home and if he does then I wouldn't be against a trade.
Now what is Wells doing. Nice dream.

Wasn't among the sharks best players Yesterday in their win over Perth. Shauny Mac BOG. Johnson was reported for Perth.

I think he'll go home at seasons end. On todays form we haven't got room in our side for another slow defender, and if he's not getting a game and out of contract there is no reason for him to stay. Just aslong as we get something decent in return and he doesn't go into the PSD I don't think we'll really miss him. If he was winning his own ball he'd be playing in the midfield for East Freo. We already have enough players who lack pace and aren't very good at clearances.
