Browsing through imdb i noticed that a sequel to Donnie Darko is being made, called S. Darko. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1231277/
According to imdb:

''The story picks up seven years after the first film when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions."

As someone who loved (yet am still completely perplexed by) the original, can't say I'm looking forward to this.

Yeah same here, not one I'm hanging out for. Will probably still watch it, but I don't think it should be made.

Saw somewhere that Richard Kelly has got nothing at all do with it (or anyone else from the original except the actress who played Samantha). Must be annoying for a director when this happens.

Always bad news when a bum producer/production company has the rights to your material. It made so much coin on DVD it was a no brainer for this to get made. Probably not the last sequel either.
