so not only have the government put a package together, they forked out $35M in an attempt to keep it open.

They have also expressed an interest in buying the Tonsley Park site for future manufactory Industries.

What else could they of done Maccas?

I know they put in $35M for the development of the 380 and Mitsubishi are going to pay it back (right thing to do).

Okay so the SA government buys the site, but they still have to attactract a long term company to the site, I mean lets be honest here they are still trying to clean up the Pt Stanvac mess:thumbsdown:

Ive lived in a city and seen where companies have come and gone from as quick as six months that were supposed to be the be all and end all for Whyalla, apart from BHP/One Steel and Santos the rest have been flash in the pan rubbish.

It's pretty much like everyone in SA screaming for a new mutli purpose stadium close to the city, its going to take a change of government in SA for that to happen.

Th government is there to provide employment and all the services that a city/state requires to support the population, forcing people to the bush and away from their families isnt the answer and I seriously doubt there are 1000 jobs available either.

:thumbsu:

you continue to avoid the question of what do you think the state government should be doing.

I wonder why this is? Could it possibly be because you have had a dig at SA, once again, but have no answer yourself. You wrongly claimed they have done nothing, you have come across as petty and ignorant.

In Victoria if you lose your job the Government here gives you a house, a car, a welfare double that of your old wage until you find a new job, and your local MP comes around to your house every morning personally with the paper and to make you a cup of tea. It's one big Utopia for the unemployed in Victoria.

The government should be trying to keep the jobs in Adelaide not saying well our only option currently is to send you to the bush, I mean lets be honest here alot of those employees will still have morgages to pay bills to pay, a payout anit going to cover all of that.

Ive identified what the government has splashed all over the news tonight and that is what it was 'If the employes really want to work there are jobs in mining':rolleyes:

A message from the SA 'we dont give a rats clacker' Government:thumbsdown:

I cannot remember a SA trash thread you have started that has had any credibility. I seriously try to see things from your point but you never have any true facts to back it up.

People, feel free to post other subjects where he has been proven wrong or has had no cred.

Mitsubishi - You have taken a media report and now you have a go based on what the media said. The jobs in the bush are simpy just another option. BRG has listed the facts and details of the Government plans. Also most of the Mitsubishi workers knew this was coming for years. Those that it truly effects are long term employees and the payout is very very attractive. 7 weeks pay I think for every employee and then another 4-5 weeks for every year you have been employed. Not only that but it is so easy to find a job at the moment it's not funny. Throw in the defence contract which we won from Victoria and the mining boom there are plenty of options which the Gov has made clear. Oh yeah and Pt Stanvac is the testing ground for a desal plant and if successful will most likely be built there.

Seriously you have no Cred

How isnt it correct, when it was all over the news tonight:rolleyes:

So the State Government are not going allocate any money in the budget for training packages to retrain Mitsubishi workers?

They are not going to use any of the $20,000,000 they got back from Mitsubishi to try and establish some sort of alternative employment scheme in the Southern area?

It was $35 Mill and I would highly doubt they will if there is no interest.

First I dont see 1000 jobs there and second I dont think there is one there that is even remotely suitable to a redundant Mitsubishi worker, but hey the SA government thinks so:rolleyes:

Well as the mining companies are screaming out for drivers for their big trucks, they have asked the federal government if they can recruit overseas people. These people get mega bucks and would pay off their home loans in no time. Sounds beneficial for all parties I would have thought. In fact the defence forces are having trouble resigning people because of the high wages the mining companies are offering.

Heard a whisper also the one mining company wants to buy the plant and assemble these big trucks there instead of importing them direct.
With a train line next door they could then transport them that way instead of the big hassles they have on flat tops.

The other big rumour was that the state government has decided to build a two lane one way highway to make it more attractive from the northern suburbs.

Umm i actually thought the SA Government was meant to look after the interests of the entire state, not just Adelaide.... Nobody is being forced anywhere, but the choice is there and it may be an outstanding lifestyle choice for many. Knowing quite a few people in the mining industry, there are also living arrangments that can be made (inc. 3 weeks on, 1 week off, direct flights, free of charge, to your home city each weekend, relocation payments for those wanting to move, free child care, health care and rent subsidies, susidised educaiton fees for children wishing to board in Adelaide).

Maccas, have you started a thread on some of the Victorian clubs board bagging the Victorian Government for not siging up to the save the Murray scheme earlier?

You bag our government, but how well is yours going?

Dont get me wrong some of the crap and rubbish we deal with here is unbelievable, in all honesty this isnt a go at SA, this is my concern for the way South Australians are being treated by the government and the lapsy dasiy attitude they have had for many many years and piss poor decisons they have made, I mean look we all know SA got it reall good between the 40's and 60's Whyalla, Pt Augusta and Pt Pirie all had nice new industry population was growing through the roof etc, but since then what has the SA government brought to rural SA aside from mining? those three cities are still relying on 60's industry to sustain their populations and livelihood. It's only me expressing my concerns simple as that:)

My big big beefs with the Victorian government is Water and transport/roads etc huge huge huge issues we are down to about 34% water and like all state and federal governments have sat on their hands until it got to this critical level denying climate change was happening, thinking it will rain next winter, it will rain next winter and so on, transport both road and public transport is nothing short of a joke here and it is a nightmare to drive from side of the city to the other, they built citylink which at the best of times is about as useful as your local shopping centre carpark, built with no forthought or any palnning in any way shape or form at peak times they have to close a lane incase emergency vehcials need to get through (lack of pre-planning), I in all think pretty much all state and federal governments are screwing all Australians over big time, tax afetr tax after tax after tax I mean tell me what other countries pays two taxes on fuel and soon possibly three WTF is with that? we should pay income tax and a GST on stuff we buy end of story not friken carbon emissions tax and bullshit like that.

FFS. The factory closing was a good thing. No more leeching money any more, and jobs can finally go to areas where they are needed. 1000- something people have lost their jobs, with hundreds probably alreadying finding work already I would expect.

a few years time 2000-4000 people will be needed to build the war ships. There, the job losses have been curbed.

Exactly right.
