Boy I'm so glad that sacking MM is not a common idea. Seriously we have a very young side (I think the stat is something like a dozen players under 50 games) we were missing about half a dozen of our best 22, Clement & Johnson were first game back from injury and we lost in the last half of the last quarter in the wet to a team who aside from the Adelaide loss have been playing pretty good football. Today's loss was not MM fault and it would harm Collingwood a lot more than it would help to sack him four weeks into the season.

I dont think malthouse should have had his contract extended and I think he has some weakness but my opinion is simply based on the fact that his time is up. Whats yours based on Dave?
Can you actually give us some examples or are you simply annoyed that we lost. What is that 1 style of play and how many styles can you play when its pooring rain? From What I could see port played the same style(tackle hard,body on the line , get the ball forward) What would you have suggested they do differently.
Which are the wrong players that have been recruited in the last 3-4 years and as far as I know Mick is the coach not the recuiter.
What hard decisions would you like him to make? or are you just saying it to make a comment.

There was nothing wrong with his coaching yesterday. It was one of those games that could have gone either way and we were pretty unlucky that we lost(or ateast had them slowed down) some key players in the last quarter.
As I said I think micks time should be up at the end of the year and there are some weakness's in his coaching but you have made a list and not backed it up with any factual information. I think this is because you don't know anyting about the game yourself and were trying to be contoversial.

Lets look at it, we've beaten Kangaroos and Richmond. Both widely regarded to finish 15th and 16th. We've lost to West Coke and Port, the coast are hot favourites for the flag and we were very competitive for 3 quarters in that game. Yet again we the class factor kicked in. We got done by a very promising Port team minus Brogan and Pearce. We aren't that far off, but we're enough off the pace to not be able to get over the top of the upper ecehlon sides of the competition. We can take care of Richmond and the Carrara Roos any day of the week, with Essendon Adelaide and Carlton to come if we dont win 2 of these games i can really see us dropping off the pace with a bottom 4 finish on the cards. We arent that bad but it will take time.

Lets not become Richmond supporters! Sure, people like DTM have probably got a right to get frustrated at Malthouse sometimes, but overall he does a good job, I agree that at times it appears he plays some players out of position (not being privvy to match committee there may be reasons this happens) and at others he perserveres with players who do not appear to be delivering, but what sort of coach would he be if he didn't back his own judgement? Must admit that R Shaw and Leon have improved every year under Malthouse and people have been calling for their heads since 02! Hasn't really made any major faux pas this year as far as playing positions go. Last year was suppossed to be a right off, it wasn't. This year could have been a train smash with the forward line gutted at the moment, instead we have been able to watch young players gain experience and actually deliver! Remember between Thomas, Pendelbury and H Shaw there are less than 70 games total and yet those 3 (amongst others) have helped take it up to 2 really good teams and ran over the top of 2 others that deserved it. Sure, probably could have been 3 from 4 but not even near sacking country yet.

A bit over the top....by 3 quarter time we had a few sore boys and just looked tired.I thought their spirit was fantastic for 3 quarters.....Apart from Richards they all had a red hot go and could easily have put the game out of reach of Port....Maybe just a bit of inexperience at crucial stages of the game cost us...
Thats the difference between winning and losing i guess....It was the same against the Eagles ....Our young guys will be better off for the slog yesterday....
Their r some guys on here that think we r gonna win everything.....We have to be realistic about our list and what levels we are at now and where we could be next season and the season after......
