WTF?>??? Couldnt this thread be left DEAD?
This thread should always serve as a reminder , in much the same way as ANZAC day or "Rememberance Day"

A reminder as to why our club has been so shyte for 20 years +

Shyte because we have been riddled with bottom feeders like 76 gamer for years that have seen our club rot from the inside out .... by being completely selfish and self serving and putting thier own agendas before the good of the club . by thinking they are greater than the club .

Lest we Forget

He was outed as an Essendon supporter some time back, ID. A very elaborate troll, but a troll nonetheless.

It wasn't VANDA was it? Got a link to the outing? I would like to read it...

I haven't, dan. But I'd be keen to read it again if you can find it. The crux of it if remember correctly was that the "76 Games" reference was something to do with Barry Young having played that exact number of games at Tigerland before going to Essendon. As for it being VANDA, that was almost a certainty - '76 Gamer' joined BigFooty the same month as VANDA, and didn't post for something like three years afterwards.

Ha, VANDA. Every time I hear that name I laugh. Remember how prolific he was this time last year? Never heard of him again after about Round 6 (well, not under that pseud).

He's had one full year and I think we've seen enough of his second year to know that TW is just not in the supercoach class. It's obvious that he doesn't understand the game, why waste time with him? He's had his chance, get rid of him!

Bump.... 3 years ago this guy had a crystal ball (and most people tried to shoot him down). What a visionary.:p

ROFLMAO

Same blokes tearing into the OP are the same blokes tearing into Wallace these days.

The impatience, irrationality and sheer single-minded blindness of many Richmond supporters is largely responsible for the mediocrity of our once great club.

Too many people don't have the patience to do the genuine hard work needed to build something from the ground-up. 1 or 2 years into a rebuilding plan and there is a clamour for results-now and coaching changes.

Every time we begin the process we shoot ourselves in the foot as the club officials run scared of rabid and moronic fans.

Instead of having the self-belief, competence and leadership to continue building a side, Frawley felt the hot breath on his neck and topped-up with veterans to try and get immediate success. Instead of having the sense of security to let a Gaspar or Holland go, he couldn't face the Richmond fans after a poor season so kept his veterans at any cost.

Greg Miller is a guy who can stare down these fans. Form a plan and stick to it. Terry Wallace is a guy who can stare down these fans. Neither is going to run scared of coteries, player groups, sponsors or guys with trucks of chicken waste.

Neither guy is going to let the players run the club as happened in the past. Both have the reputations and status to make tough decisions and not need to apologise to anyone. Both can give the one finger salute to the fans and get on with the business of running the club ... which is exactly what we need.

The Richmond plan is clear to anyone with eyes who cares to look.

We are going for pace, pace, pace. Guys who run like the wind and kick the ball well. These guys Deledio, JON, Casserley, Tambling, Meyer, Raines will be brought in every year and we will keep turning them over until we have a 15 man midfield. It will take time. These types of players need 4 years, not 1 to get up to the standards of AFL fitness and competence.

We are developing mobile key position players. Guys like Thursfield who are running, rebounding defenders. Guys like Hughes who play more like Tarrant than Rocca.

The plan is there. For the first time in 25 years we have genuine leadership at the club who are committed to sticking to a plan and bringing it to fruition. Not a bunch of nuff-nuffs who will change and panic at the first sign of fan unrest.

The plan might not be he right one, but at least we have blokes with a vision of how the AFL will look in 5 years time and are building a team for that challenge.

Guys who are trying to build a team to challenge for premierships in 5 years and not caring about a finals appearance this year or next.

Eventually people will see that this year and next don't matter. That players like Gaspar, Tivendale, Chaffey and co don't matter. They are not part of the planning, they are not part of the future. They are simply place-holders. Taking the bumps and punishment (and losses) while we develop the kids to take their place.

They'll do their 1-2 years of service and then be pushed aside when the kids are ready. In exchange for being well paid duds for the past decade, they get to suffer the punishment of ending their career as fall-guys attracting the anger of the fans and losing most weeks.

Instead of having rabid fans pointing the finger at Tambling and wondering why he isn't a game-winner by 19, they can take out their anger on Tivendale while Tambling gets to take his time and grow into a player.

Finally thing start heading in the right directions and idiots who want success yesterday only want to tear it all up and start again.

.... :o

At least there's one bloke here with the mental capacity of argument! Much better than the rest of you neanderthal ratbags. Well done! Here are my responses to your comments.

1. He is on a five year contract and we should stick it out.
Stick it out regardless of performance? Like we did with Frawley? Yeah right.

2. We are rebuilding, which means we are going to look ugly for a while.
Coaches hide behind this rubbish all the time, especially those on long term deals. It should look ugly for no more than two years, and it should get less ugly each week.

3. I'm sick of us making knee-jerk reactions with our coaches. Time for solidarity please.
I'm sick of not caring about the footy every September because we're not involved.

4. He has had sucess. We beat the premier and took the GF loser to two points last year, so hey.
TW did a pretty good job last year, although we should have played finals - our pathetic efforts in the final rounds, especially the loss to Carlton, meant that, ultimately, we underachieved. But, we did get nine wins last year as opposed to four wins in 2004. If that improvement is not continued, it should be bye bye Terry.

5. We haven't lost to anyone that we expected to beat.
Excuse me, but have you lost your mind? Does the 110 point thrashing by Footscray ring a bell?

6. Do you really think it is a good idea to terminate a contract 26 games into a five year contract?
Not plan A certainly, but better than languishing on the bottom for longer than we have to.

7. The team doesn't mind him, helps team unity to have one coach for once.
Are you referring to the players? TW is not as popular as you think - that's a fact.

8. If we keep changing our coaches, no coach will want to coach us. Anyway, do you have any plausable thoughts on any real replacment?
And if we keep accepting our losing culture, no players will want to play with us. There are excellent coaches out there - not necessarily current AFL head coaches either.

9. Winning against Brisbane after making one of the longest trips in footy shows skill.
Absolutely. Take out Gaspar and Hall and add in Brown and we've got a decent list - not fantastic but decent. We should expect to be better than 1-3 with a percentage of 66%. We underperformed against the Dogs and against Coast and the Saints game was there to be won. When you've got a decent list and it underperforms, you can only look at the coach.

Cough .. cough ... splutter

LMAO. The only certainty in footy is that the coach will get sacked. Hardly makes someone who predicts it years in advance a visionary.

LMAO 1980, yeah that PRR character sounded like a real loser.

Bring back 76 gamer what a smart tosser he was ........ :p

Interesting news:
Grant Thomas has been sacked by SEN radio today!
Is this an omen for your new coach?
One less commitment for him to take care of, making it more likely for him to be available to coach you blokes next season or even sooner???

LMAO! you don't have to be a visionary, mate
And we were right, you don't jump off board an experienced coach a couple of years into his five year contract. You at least give him the chance and he either sinks or swims.
He sunk, but responsible clubs don't make kneejerk decisions because some "visionary" said he can't coach lol
The only reason Wallace can't coach is he doesn't have the cattle.
Maybe that's partly his doing, but you're no Nostradamus, just someone who can't hack it and wanted an easy out.

LMAOOOO @ the first time i have seen you be positive about the RFC in two years .:D

.... but that is a ripping post Weaver :thumbsu:

Id, when you bring up someone's post you think is embarrassing, don't forget to bring up the one where you thought it was a beauty LMAO! HAHA!

It's great that you agree that Wallace can't coach, took you three years to wake up and admit you're wrong but I'm glad we're on the same page now.

Apology accepted, Froars, no hard feelings.

No apology for being loyal, mate! And I didn't say he couldn't coach.

11 Coaches since 1980! Thats a pretty damning statistic and a fact that this club cannot hide from. I love the Tigers like most here but unfortunately I don't see us ever being sucessful with this constant process of turning over coaches. Yep we might have a "flash in the pan" year where we might finish 3rd but we will never win another premiership.

I reckon today would be a good day to do it, if it's to be done.
Federal Budget day, that's all they'll be talking about, and the club can slip under the radar.

In theory sounds plausible, but .... :D

In fairness NT, whilst the 80's and 90's were a debacle, it's only been two in the last 10 years

Obviously you lot did not have the benefit of my insider status at the Club that I enjoyed so you weren't expected to really understand what was going on at the time.

Can you elaborate.

Give us a bit of a run down of why you thought this early and what signs were there.
