Ooh, as a guy who has known and loved good souvlaki from Oakleigh, Lygon St, and even Footscray... this is one of the things I miss about living in Adelaide. There's a good collection of Greeks here, and I'm friends with quite a few of them. But SA Greeks just don't have that style of the souvlaki; where the lamb is hot, salty and bursting out from the pitabread, with the garlic sauce blending with your drool in your mouth, and the refreshment of the lettuce and the tomato...
Technically, I meant Yarraville. Back in my time living there, there was this little caravan stall for souvlaki at the petrol station on the corner of Willy and Francis... (come to think of it, it might have been a kebab, rather than a souvlaki..). While certainly not the same as Lygon or Oakleigh, it was pretty darn good.Where are the good souvas in Footscray?? I live there - haven't found any. my favourite is CBD Kebab in Flinders St.

Thanks for the tip, Sav! I've been meaning to try Yiros Brothers in Blackwood - I go up there for Pilates with the wife every Tuesday night, so we could definitely give it a go.Souvlaki Bros in Glenelg goes alright!
Busted
Not Footscray
Not a souvlaki

Kebab Zone in Yarraville, at the petrol station is amazing! i go there nearly every week on the way home after a big nightTechnically, I meant Yarraville. Love the regular updates mate...great for those who can't get to the ground.Dropped into Moorabbin this arvo on my way thru.......further concrete was being poured for the base slab of the Northern wing.
They about 3/4 of the way thru with that slab......the base of that wing covers an enormous area.
The first steel beams/cross beams were up .....2 floors worth......and just that looked an imposing sight.
Looking at that makes you realize just how big the whole complex will be.
It was a hive of activity down there.
Due to the great weather we have had thru Winter, the complex may in fact be completed ahead of schedule......here's hoping.
Thanks George.....Love the regular updates mate...great for those who can't get to the ground.

I too miss a good souvlaki and even crave steamed Dim Sims in soy sauce. In Perth I'm yet to find either , and apart from a great Italian place in South Perth , you could take the next best Italian place , drop it into Lygon street , and it would be the worst one in the street. Restuarants/ Eateries here suck.Ooh, as a guy who has known and loved good souvlaki from Oakleigh, Lygon St, and even Footscray... this is one of the things I miss about living in Adelaide.
