Disagree on dropping Butler. Had equal second most pressure acts for the team, Windhager had more. Boxshall was equal second which is weird, I didn’t notice he was playing lol

Butler runs around like a maniac, I like that
Yeah I don't think Butler gets dropped off that game. I reckon Wood is under pressure though.

I still think we'll improve a bit. I reckon we get to 10th as long as we win the easier matches and the ones we should at home. If we can get to 10th, play a final and try to load up for next year I think I'd be reasonable happy.
Where is our home ground again?

I have forgotten and the AFL can’t help me

before tonight we'd beaten Port in SA only 5 times EVER - and literally NEVER twice in a row. don't sleep on the achievement, they're not much good but they still have some quality especially in the midfield, so it's a good win.

pretty obviously this team isn't gelling yet, but we're still sitting 2-3 after a pretty tough start to the year. I have no doubt there's a huge amount of improvement in the group as they get more used to playing together. there's some good raw material here, juggle a few more magnets and I think we're still capable of making an impact.

either way, enjoy the wins. anyone who's been a Saints supporter for long enough knows you gotta take em where you get em.

Nas
20 kicks 8 hb 9 tackles 13 contested 2 goals

Really good game from him

Garcia 10 clearances

Nas fought through the tag/niggling well to have a big impact as the game went on, not many players can restrict him for 4 qtrs.

Port are in the 8 and we
beat them and we're still a few games off clicking as a team. We got the dud draw of playing a local team in the Gather Round. That was a really gutsy win.
good point about effectively playing an away game in Gather Round. if the fixturing has any integrity it shouldn't need to happen again for another 8-9 years. though the Blues have copped the Crows twice already so I am not banking on it

he might get one more but he's miles off the pace at the moment, having minimal impact. actually, we'll need Dougs next week for Thilthorpe so that might even be the change, Wood out Howard in. plenty of players who can play wing already in the side.

Garcia and JSOS just awesome. Owens is my favourite player. Nice to see Phillipou and Tauru get involved and have an influence.

TDK and Marshall seriously need to lift if we’re gonna get anywhere this season.
Owens was huge. Just enormous. That goal he kicked off the snap was huge but his ability to contest and bring it to ground was massive.

If we can get King back he could be something else.

Flanders, Hill & Windhager's kicking was on the poor side tonight
Carroll at 83,3 % DE, he may be starting to feel comfortable with his role based on tonight & can see why they are persevering with him.
Hall 85.7 % DE & he is one player who can translate that into the midfield, need him in there fulltime.

JSOS is an outstanding pick up. Hard to believe the other clubs didnt think he was worth what we offered.

Pou's best game of the year. Should get great confidence from it.

Hugo turning into a very handy player.

Nas finally beat the tag and it makes such a difference.

Windy going into the midfield in the last was a game changers. I'd like to see him start there next week and Flanders play half back where he dominated for the suns.

Carroll is getting better each week.

Oh. Shit. Someone hold me.

Henry coming in will definitely put pressure on Butts.

Needed that one. Hugo was fantastic, TDK just always has an impact and seems like the connection with mids was trending in the right direction. SOS was very good and good to see Pou improve. His mid minutes are well down though. Would love to see him use is body and leg drive in the contest more.

This second half fade is now a trend and needs looking into. I can only chalk it up to a taxing game style.

We were slow to adjust to wet conditions tonight and it also highlighted how outside we have constructed or team in recent years.

It’s taken one sleep to forget about the Battle talk of last night after SOS’s game.

As good as Battle was and is, SOS + Tauru is a great move forward.

Always nice to beat those scumbags over here. Strange game, looked like 8-10 goal winners early. Port coulda/shoulda led at the final change. A win is a win.

The umpiring tonight evens the ledger after the atrocity at the same venue two years earlier (25-10 to the home side in a close game)
;)
