Some people are so stupid... Duds for a future star, good trade -.-

Salopek - Promising midfielder he was projected to be a top 3 pick.
Surjan - Port's 2nd best TAGGER (behind K.Cornes), I remember him getting rid of Kerr and Daavey from the game.
Symes - Port's best small defender

Jordan Russell - The dud player of CARLTON
Carlton - dud team

Post something smart would ya?

Heres the difference
Surjan has come along in leaps and bounds in 2006 and was also nominated for the NAB rising star award while Russell in 2006 played 10 very unimpressive games
a swap for russell and surjan is laughable

got to agree, we need to keep surjan, he is the tough-nut player that we were lacking after carr, hardwick went.

Port are chasing this "dud" player so how crap does that make your struggling club?

My only response to this would be ... do you honestly believe that Steven Salopek would NOT have been picked up in the PSD if he had chosen to walk last year ?

If you think this is the case perhaps type "Salopek PSD" (or similar) into google and have a look at the interest he was attracting late last year.
It's not my rumour and more than one player have wanted out of a club only to change their mind at the eleventh hour.

Fevola.
Wayne Campbell.
Grant.

Geeze Port fans are touchy. Surjan has been in the system a year longer than Russell and obviously your club sees something in him that i don't, otherwise they wouldn't be after him. Do you seriously expect Carlton to give him away for nothing of worth?

If we want to play hardball and he decides he wants to leave (which he hasn't offically done as of yet) then he can go in the PSD, we're aware of the possibility and we're not going to complain when logic takes its course.

I agree. My point with Salopek is if he wanted out of Port last year he would have been picked up PSD with no problems. However prior to the season commencing he had resigned with us and hence wasn't available.

I know what rumours are like ... in this case I'm suggesting the evidence I've presented suggests its more likely that Salopek re-signed with Port because he wanted to (maybe during the season he did think about it - in fact I'd be suprised if he didnt) ..... however your inital suggestion that he only signed with us because Carlton committed to McLaren is obvioulsy incorrect because it assumes that:

a) Salopek hadn't already re-signed with us when McLaren became available
b) That Salopek wanted to go to Carlton - and hence Carlton deciding not to pick him up became a problem
c) Salopek did not have enough value to be picked up in the PSD by another club.

So in summary I'm not doubting you, but doubting the validity of the rumours you are repeating.

The difference is there is a lot more upside to Jordan Russell than any of the other 3 more pace and better foot skills and can play more positions in the future. As for carlton being a dud team 16 premierships in the best comp in the land and even as far down as we are now we are still closer to a flag than Port who are still on there downward spiral. As for smarts you live in adelaide enough said.:thumbsu:

More upside means he has achieved less, nothing to suggest he will achieve more

This could possibly be one of the most ridiculous paragraphs constructed during this trade period. I reallly do hat the fact that trade week seems to always correspond with school holidays.

I wont even bother addressing the upside to Salopek and Symes (in particular) or their corresponding footskills or versatility.

But how on earth can you suggest Carlton are closer to a premiership than Port ?

EDIT: What makes it even scarier is that your profile is trying to pass you off as a 35yo.

A pity Caroline Wilson said you're not very well off financially and this is despite the fact you're based in a one team town.

Russell wants to go home with Port being the better lever for a trade via the PSD.

Yep, Port are pretty well off and a power.

This is the table (value in millions)

Team Value
Collingwood 44
Brisbane 37
Hawthorn 34
West Coast 33

Geelong 31
Fremantle 29
Port Adelaide 27
