Not a big fan of the press but they've done nothing wrong here.

And with more to come out I reckon what we've heard about Fat Sam is only the tip of the iceberg.

But what he's said already justifies a sacking in my book. Remember third party ownership is illegal worlwide and he's basically saying it's not a problem to carry on with it.

Reckon the tax authorities will be interested in the next couple of weeks too. Bet not many of these bungs have been declared and tax paid.
Would the bungs be large enough in value to make it worthwhile?

What did he say about third parties that was wrong? Serious question because I've only heard the quote about Valencia.

One reported bung was a manager negotiating a 8k / week pay rise with the manager pocketing 2k a week from the player. That's quite substantial as far as tax avoidance goes.

He said that the rules werent a problem.

Did he actually detail how to get around them or declare when he'd got around them previously?

Before he had even held his first training session as England’s new head coach, Allardyce negotiated a deal with men purporting to represent a Far East firm that was hoping to profit from the Premier League’s billion-pound transfer market.

He agreed to travel to Singapore and Hong Kong as an ambassador and explained to the “businessmen” how they could circumvent Football Association rules which prohibit third parties “owning” players.

Unbeknown to Allardyce, the businessmen were undercover reporters and he was being filmed as part of a 10-month Telegraph investigation that separately unearthed widespread evidence of bribery and corruption in British football.

Over the course of two meetings, lasting four hours in total, Allardyce told the fictitious businessmen that it was “not a problem” to bypass the rules introduced by his employers in 2008.

He said he knew of certain agents who were “doing it all the time” and added: “You can still get around it. I mean obviously the big money’s here.”

Ok interesting, I guess they aren't directly quoting the methods he outlined for obvious reasons, but if he's listed examples where he's done it, or the specific means to do so then that's probably not great on his behalf.

From what I've heard the methods are to get into an arrangement with an agent where you pay them for their cut of any future transfer deals that happen.

You would imagine in that case that you would have to be able to exert a significant influence over the agent and his player.

Have also heard the Ravel Morrison loan to Cardiff has been red flagged and could get both clubs in trouble as well as Fat Sam being in it up to his eyeballs.

Will be interesting also to see what substance the Telegraph has on these bung rumours. If anything concrete I can not only see some high profile sackings/suspendions but a few greedy people fearing a knock on the door from Officer Dibble.

Should also mention that the Valencia deal does seem to be above board. But FIFA banned all 3rd party ownership the following year, so would be a problem if it happened today. The FA banned it shortly after Tevez/Mascherano.

Morrison was pressured by Fat Sam to switch to his agent when at West Ham if you remember that story.

They've deliberately gone to set him up. It may not be legally wrong but morals an ethics would stop most people doing it.

Would you set someone up in your workplace, with the main goal of getting them sacked?
Only if it was something criminal that negatively affected the company.

The Independent closed down recently & The Guardian sacked a lot of journos last week too including Mike Selvey, who despite being a massive **** whenever the Ashes was on, wasn't a bad journo. Accessing free articles online has made there business model unsustainable.

In short, the papers need to engage in this kind of subterfuge to get a story which will justify someone buying a paper and the journo's keeping their job.

It'll only get worse.

Yep, I do. And then proceeded to deny everything and then slag him off.

It all rang too true with me, was pretty sure Morrison was in the right on that one.

How has it gone for England with foreigners? Sven started well but ended up wasting oppertunitues with what essentially was a very good squad of players. Capello was a disaster at the 2010 World Cup.

I'd be inclined to go with Pardew. Howe needs more experience at a bigger club than Bournemouth. Hoddle been out of the game too long really
I feel a big problem with appointing someone like Pardew is that you have all the top English players coming from playing under blokes like Guardiola, Klopp, Conte, Mourinho, Wenger etc and then they are trying to listen to Pardew... I just dont think that works, the top players just wont respect a guy like Pardew enough.

Pardew has his own legal/personal problems to worry about. And I wouldn't be totally shocked if he was drawn into this as well.

FA probably best off waiting to see who else is going to come up in the investigation.

Also im with SM on this. I havent read super into it but from what I have read he said nothing on bungs and then just said that there was ways around 3rd party ownership. Which im sure any manager, agent, bigwig etc would know in that industry.

So saying there are ways around it is one thing, but he didnt admit to saying he had done it did he? Then he also apparently looked greedy for wanting 400k for a speaking role but then said he would have to clear anything with his employer first.

Without reading super into it, for me he has come off a little dodgy and a bit naive but he hasnt incriminated himself in anything.

Am I missing something?
