Sam Gilbert??

Given the situation that the Saints find themselves they may need, or have enforced changes at the end of the year. I am pretty sure Sam Gilbert was coming to the end of his agreement, he would be a good target for us as a key back. Might spell the end for MJ (move him the GWS?)

Me thinks you are massively under-rating Gilbert. His form in 09/10 was good. He was able to play as a shut down key position with the capacity to run off. He is not as creative as MJ but his certainly more consistant and stronger at the ball. This year he has been average and hopefully his trade value would reflect that. I suspect he will end up at GWS anyhow.

Now what are people thoughts on Tate Pears????

He couldn't shut down a factory even if they gave him a big red button to press. He's an average disposal of the ball, average runner and less than average defenceman... and has a tiny you know what.

As for Tate Pears, not a big fan either. He's better, but fragile and seems like a tool.

Wouldn't happen anyway. If St Kilda were ever contemplating moving Gilbert on, Gilbert would go to the Gold Coast. He's from Queensland after all and Gold Coast will hold all the aces (they also picked up some of those bankable draft picks last year).

Our best bet would be if Harry Taylor got homesick. Otherwise go the draft.

With the way that our club racks up injuries, surely depth is one of the most important things. Lower was not going to play this year but he is in the middle just as I thought he would be.

Gilbert is a PURE IDIOT! Swapping ANYONE from our team for him is a mistake. Even our players that cant break into the team are still working as part of a unit and give their best. Gilbert introduced a MEDIA DISASTER to the Saints this year and look how they have suffered.

If you are thinking of bringing that to us I think you should hand in your Purple and head out the door! MJ is a million times better than Gilbert. Even with his off field issues!
