Pick #25 in the 2024 AFL Draft, Marshall looks a strong chance to leave the Lions this summer if his body language and inability to crack the side holds any weight.

Played 12 games so far in his career including the 2025 Grand Final. Very strong as a junior and has had consistently good to great VFL performances. Great kick, great runner, very balanced.

Would not net serious draft capital, and likely headed for Victoria should he decide to leave. Who would be into him, and for how much?

Carlton and Richmond are obvious ones, F2 territory, or late 2nds in this draft?

Contracted first round pick from 2024.

Also a premiership player, which according to some very intelligent saints posters means he will net us a premium.

Let the bidding begin.

Crazy to let him go, resign him and he will cement a spot next year, especially when Neale leaves

That would be everyone’s preference

"first round pick" He went at 25 which pre draft bidding would be pick 7 in the 2nd round

A pick around that value (e.g an early 2nd is the right price)

But it says on the Wikipedia’s that he was a first round pick.

If Merrett or Ridley wanted to go to Brisbane, id be asking about Sam. Would fit in with our young group in a position we need to refresh in and has premiership experience.

Straight swap for the riddler.

You can keep Merrett.

The kid is 20 and a premiership player he’s worth more then a pick Brisbane wouldn’t use

Why are we chasing Ridley he is just another DoeDee who can’t get games at the Lions as it is Payne is better also Lions have enough rebounding defenders as it is

I completely agree regarding the injury concerns, but if he can get fit (huge if at this point), Ridley could easily be our second best defender IMO.

I don't think it's a complete coincidence that the game and a half that he's played this year is the time Essendon have looked like a legitimate AFL side

He'd be a huge risk based on his injury history though.

On Marshall, I can see why he'd want to leave to get more consistent AFL footy. He'd be getting consistent game time at most other teams.

Doedee MK 2 for mine as I said I’d rather back in Payne who until injury was right up there with Andrews as our best shutdown defender.
I also think Gallop is developing quite well

You might want to actually watch some highlights was really good last year major reason he stayed in a premiership winning midfield
I thought he was a great prospect coming out of the draft, I know just how good he is.

Reality is that half his games have been as the sub, he's not currently in the side, and the noise is that he wants out for opportunity. Can't really blame him as he is more than good enough to be playing regular games at AFL level. Brisbane are not petty enough to stand in his way, they're a well run club.

They'll get more than his worth if he goes to Richmond or the Dons.

It depends on what Neale and Bailey do but I’d rather back him in with Levi and Will to be our future midfield

I'm sure the club would, but Sam will have the final say. That's modern footy + Brisbane would not want to keep someone that doesn't want to be there, they've got a good culture and are relatively professional in the DnT space

He’s an elite-level runner…consistently tops Brisbane’s red zone (ie gut running) metrics however he’s out of contract at the end of the year…he’s also a Sunshine Coast fella who spent his senior high school years in Melbourne so he’s not exactly desperate to stay in Brisbane

I understood that Collingwood and Melbourne, among others, showed interest…one hesitation all clubs have is that he’s an academy selection and it is considered poor form to ‘poach’ an academy pick

Now that might just mean Brisbane get better compensation than they might otherwise have but it’s definitely a concern that other list managers have

Personally I think Brisbane would be crazy to let him go anywhere else - his style of running is quickly becoming the most valuable skill in the modern game

I’ve been devastated that they’ve not picked him this season as it’s sending a very poor message to the kid and his management after the season he had last year
