Its genuinely incredible you've managed to convince yourself of all this. Peak copium.

If you had a reasoned argument against the actual trade you would have made it.
Feel free to break down the parts of it so we can have that discussion-when you are prepared to engage properly.

When your argument is based around Hayward and Florent being salary dump spuds, it's really not worth my time.

You should try watching other teams play some time, might do you some good.

Probably the same reason your fans thought Marshall was worth a lone pick in the mid 20s.

I would argue it did cost us the grand final. We needed a big man with presence to help ascertain the momentum shift in the second half. We got literally nothing out of either one of our rucks. Absolutely nothing. Stanley was a hindrance such was his woeful performance to that point of time in the game.

Fort + McInerney combined for 60 hit-outs, 7 clearances & 8 score involvements.

Blicavs + Stanley combined for 41 hit-outs, 3 clearances & 3 score involvements.

If that was Marshall out there, Brisbane coaching staff would be trying various ways to negate his influence as he would have taken both McInerney & Fort to the cleaners.

It's utterly pitiful we look to Stanley yet again in 2026. Blicavs while a brilliant all-rounder, is not good enough to compete with elite ruckman on his own for a consistent period of time. Never has been.
Now compare the relevant stats for the midfields and small forwards between the sides. Much bigger difference than what you just showed for rucks.

We don't have as many elite rebounders as Brisbane (and without Stewart are not really good enough in that area), or negating small defenders. Brisbane keep our forwards on a leash better than we can theirs.

Our midfield depth is poor. If Holmes and Smith have off days, we're cooked. Atkins at his absolute best (QF + PF) rounds it out nicely, but he doesn't turn it on every week. At times we still require Dangerfield cameos to bail us out and that isn't susutainable.

So those are the areas I see as more crucial in Brisbane having the edge over us in recent years.

you can’t be serious they got a much better deal than Geelong were offering
Their pick 11 and Hayward made the deal stronger (the other 2x first round picks will be the same as Geelong's, maybe worse), but a fair bit of that has to do with how highly you rate Hayward. For some reason he does get hyped by a few but in reality he's a 1.8ish goal/assist and 11 disposal per game forward pocket who's never threated AA squad of 44 contention. He's 27 years old.

So from my perspective, the increase in value for the deal was largely down to pick 11 > pick 19 this year. That's fair enough as it helps the Blues with bid matching, but it's a stretch to say they got a huge haul.

Are you seriously that stupid?

Sydney will be top 4 in 2026 and 2027 with curnow so that cancels out 2 of the 3 'late r1s' everyone was complaining about from Geelong.
And florent is a cap dump in an Atkins or Bowes style (except Carlton paid for the privilege).
Hayward is ok but no more than that-hes worth a mid second rounder at best (like someone like worpel was or sam Draper if you wanted to be really generous). If you think Hayward is worth a high 1st 95 % of players on lists are (they arent).
And Carlton had to give back 2 2nds and s 3rd for the privilege (Geelong weren't asking for picks back).
Geelongs offer was comparable picks without asking Carlton to dump 1.2 mil a year on players that wont get them anywhere.
Literally the only thing Sydney offered any better than Geelong was 11 over 19 but the benefit to Carlton on that is based entirely on no bid before 11, if Dean gets bid before 11 then thats irrelevant (because in that scenario 19 and later points from Geelong would have been the same result, theres only value if they get to draft a player at 11 pre bid).

Carlton wanted the Sydney deal because a) they didnt want to deal with Geelong (as is their right)
And b) they were banking on the inclusion of someone like Hayward making the trade more 'sellable' and the use of the headline 'we got 3 r1s and 2 former r1 players' being such that people will overlook the actual details of the trade.
On the PR part of it they are right because most football fans are fundamentally stupid and wont drill down on the actual micro details.

On the trade itself they are wrong its line ball with what Geelong offered at best and arguably worse.
Sydney is no chance to make top 4 far better teams above them even with curnow there midfield lacks depth against the top teams, they will be in the 6-12 category at best , and I take it you have not watched much of Hayward a very good player worth far more than a mid second round pick
