I have not seen or heard anything of Sam Newman in regard to Geelong's premiership win.
Was he at the game?
Has anyone seen him interviewed on tv or heard him interviewed on the radio?
Was he stoked about Geelong's win?

He did say on the GF Footy show he was going to the game. I would imagine he would be stoked about the win, but like other ex-players has made sure the spotlight is purely on the lads who won it and not on him.

He came to my restaurant sunday for lunch, it looked like he had a MASSIVE night still well and truely celebrating.
Asked him if he celebrated with the boys he said no, but definately looks like he celebrated with someone! Im sure he has a deep sense of pride in gfc's achievements this year.

BTW his classic mustang convertible is THE best sounding automobile on the PLANET!

I believe Sam is one of the most passionate Geelong people going around. you don't always see it on camera though. He would be just as stoked as other ex-players like Billy, stoneham, hocking etc.

Given his star profile i think he has done the right thing by staying out of the spotlight. if any Geelong personality had the power to take away from the boys who actually won it it would've been him.

good on him for keeping a low profile. i hope he's proud as punch.

Little kids tend to make up their mind about things like Footy teams no matter what their parents say.

My oldest brothers' kids barracked for Essendon. I onced asked my nephew if he was going to play AFL and who he was going to play for. He said he was going to play for Essendon. His dad over heard the conversation and said to him "no your not son". He replied "why not Dad?". Big brothers reply "because it is very hard to play football with broken legs son".

But maybe you had to be there.

I'm more interested in knowing about Bobby Davis. Seems to be the forgotten man.

Bob said he doesn't want to take any of the limelight from today's players, he's had his day.

Lovely bloke old Bob. I doubt anyone would begrudge him (in fact I'm certain of it).

I dont think that matters at all....

You can tell that sam is a very passionate and also knowledgable supporter of the GFC

If I ever have a child he/she would support another club over my dead body. :D The brainwashing has to begin an early age of course, you can't let your children's pesky peers influence them at primary school.

who knows how prominent he is in his son's life anyway?

You probably hit the nail on the head, I get the impression he's not the one raising him and only occasionally gets to see him.

Thats such a good point. I have no idea where Sammy is. I'm surprised he hasn't joined in with all the Cats' celebrations. Probably too busy sleeping with a hooka.

I saw bob after the game in the AFL members stand. He was crying while walking out with a giant smile on his face and his wife was with him.
Was one of my lasting memories from the game
