Realistically, if Weideman gets drafted anywhere apart from Collingwood - he will probably tell them that he will be seeking a trade to Collingwood after his contract runs out. That is providing we want him and he is the type of player we need.
I highly doubt the Grandfather and Father would want otherwise.
You can't have Grandson of a Collingwood Captain playing elsewhere.
Imagine him with a Carlton jumper on. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuk !

I just mean in comparison to getting a 500k 22 year old who will be a major factor when we are actually contending, aswell as not pushing any players out the door due to the massive salary cap he would take up.

If Danger was our only option then yeah maybe we should jump at him, but he's not. I'd rather take a stab at one of the GWS boys, maybe Aish or even someone that isn't on the radar yet.

To be clear I love Danger and if we feel we are ready to contend he would have a profound impact on this clubs premiership tilt, I just have my reservations about our premiership window and his body.

But surely the degree to which the window is open or closed depends on the list. With PD the window would get cracked open quicker. My only reservations are the price tag and the message it sends to the younger members of the list. One of them would have to go...mind you Thomas and Keefe will leave a couple of empty seats...so who knows. Aish & Shiel...overrated...I'd be chasing the GWS hyphen, Hoskin-Elliot if he is on the market....

Up until 2 weeks ago, Jesse Hogan was the most hyped player to never play a game. I bet Jesse Hogan never had 15 million threads on bigfooty in his honour though.

Sorry for being rude, but can't someone around here actually spell the bloody name right. It's Weideman for goodness sake. It's one of the more famous names in our clubs' history. Not just this thread, but it's all over the place in others as well. Some of the attempts aren't even close.

And yes, I'd absolutely love us to get him, and will think it a sad day if the grandson of a Collingwood great is playing elsewhere!
