Numbers of injured don't mean a thing unless you look at who is injured.

True but does not mean that backline where do Terrible yesterday. We had no outs from the Backline

Few could argue injuries have not severely curtailed us late in the past two season and now at the beginning of this one. The compete review of our fitness and medical departments obviously hasn't worked. However, there are more problems than injuries alone. Development of young players is a concern as is the dreaded zone defense. We are a young list not only devastated by injury but also looking cod ordinary and trying to play a game plan we are either not good enough to execute or simply isn't workable.

Depends on where Adams has played most of his footy this year. That aside, would the backline be under siege if our forwards and mids do what they are supposed to do? Can they do it when you look at the outs?
All that has to be considered before we churn out the 'injuries are no excuse' line. FWIW, I haven't seen the game yet so I don't know what or where the problems were.

Ah what? Brown and Williams are our two best backs and Ramsay highly promising.

Though I take your point that stupidity with selection shouldn't be confused with injury.

maybe our backline was terrible because they had to run harder to cover other people not doing there job in the midfield. Thus is exposed on rebound. Dunno its just so amusing on here after geelong game is OMFG now its.. WE ARE SHITE.. just ridiculous

Injuries as an excuses are cute. All teams in the comp have 6-19 injuries. Gold Coast having 19. QUOTE]

Gold Coast and Pies hardest hit. GC were decimated last year as well.
And how are Gold Coast coping? You simply can't cope with that amount of carnage.
No Swallow, O'Meara, Thompson and Day along with struggling Ablett and Prestia have gutted them. (There are others on top of those)

Injuries are actually one of the most relevant stats in the comp. Ask Swanny supporters about last years final against North.
Coaches can't vocalise them as an excuse as it would slight their replacements but they must get behind closed doors and kick the sh1t out of the club cat.
Call me a simpleton but I think Swan, Elliott, Adams, Fasolo, Williams, Moore and a mix of Ramsey, Goldsack, Shaz may have added something to our team last week. Pendles has played with broken ribs early and Sidey and Varcoe have also missed games.
But hey injuries don't mean much................... or maybe they do.

What annoys me the most is that because of these injuries we don't get a true gauge on where the team and coach is at. It becomes a guess.

Everyone that played yesterday has claims for the best 22 apart from probably Goodyear.
Too much medium level talent overall.
List not there yet.
It's that simple.

Would still be nice to have a fully fit Adams, Elliot, and Swan!!!

After yesterdays performance I have claims to be in our best 22.
Perhaps.
Still I'd not risk even Blair for you, just in case the hype doesn't measure up

;)

I think we are showing some handy depth in the backline. Without the players who are currently in we would be on the bottom with Essendon.
