No replies to this thread?? Surprised.
Thought he was brilliant, clearances, hard ball, loved the passage where he was crunched in between to richmond players chasing a loose ball, and he gets up wins the ball and puts it inside 50, just stood out to me. Plenty of heart

Having an awesome year under coaches who recognise his best role is in and under. I reckon Watson and Hocking out may end up being a godsend if it encourages these other mids to lift their game. Sammy stood up last night. Where was Ben Howlett?

yep, having a great year is lonners.

very happy with the way he's been going at it, but couldn't do it all last night (without hocking/watson in and under with him)

Happy with his effort but his disposal was poor. Both he and NLM had efficiency below 50% and this was costly. Both were admirable but don't have the class of Watson and Hocking

Watson's DE% is actually not that much improved on recent years (generalising this stat), he is just using it more in open space, Lonergan is getting most of his possessions in close and is under pressure, he somewhat has his stats distorted by this.

Well done Sammy, really proving me wrong (said he was going to be delisted last year) but is proving to be a nice third/fourth string inside midfielder :thumbsu:

Love watching Sammy play, gutsy, plays with heaps of heart, would love for him to bleed red and black for many years to come.

Been one of my favourites since he debuted. :thumbsu:

One of those guys who I always thought was misused under Knights... clear as day from his first few games that he's a natural in-and-under scrapper. Important part of our setup, loved his effort against Richmond.

ive been a supporter since he first started, saw one game he played for bendigo were he kicked 5 goals and got heaps of the ball and have been on his bandwagon ever since, super player who is way underrated.

Have always loved this guy's heart, just never thought he'd be good enough. Didn't think I'd ever say so, but there's definitely a place in the 22 for Sammy, at least for now. Has earnt his contract extension for the next couple after obviously being put on notice by the coaches last year.

Ripper bloke, and plays a very important role for us. Will hopefully start to get the appreciation he deserves. Nothing more important than first hands on the ball with the rolling zone as it is these days.
