Will come cheap and has all the talent to burn. Reckon his heads in the right place too. Could be a handy addition to our forward line with 5 minute bursts through the middle.

Thoughts?

Who does?

Hasn't he gone bush because he'd lost the desire to commit himself to professional footy?

He went bush because he'd lost the desire but in the last 6 weeks he's finally realised what he's risking (or so a weagles mate tells me) apparently he's more motivated than ever to get back now because his family has convinced him that he's a wasted talent if he throws it all away. Maybe a Coaster could fill us in?

Even if he could convince the AFC that he was 100% dedicated, you wouldn't want to give up much for him. Would he even want to leave WA?

Supposedly willing to leave WA just for another crack. I'd throw a 3rd rounder at him or if he's delisted draft him with a late pick ala David Rodan

Didak, now Sampi?
If we get both these guys next year it could turn into chaos.
Before you know it Truck Rutten and Van Berlo will running around comitting armed robberies.

I think leaving the WA would be the best thing for him.

Out of his normal scenary, and concentrating on football.

If he lost some weight, and built up a reasonable base of fitness he would be damaging.

He will be de-listed, so you may aswell draft him rather than trade for him.

im starting to like the idea of picking him via pre season draft. I guess it couldn't hurt.

as long as he ticked all the right boxes for the coaching panel and would fit into the culture at west lakes?

certainly could excite the crows fans in the northern stand ala ronnie burns style...

We may as well go the trifecta and make a play for Gardiner as well. A veritable rogues gallery :D

Sampi's 'misdemeanour' - wasn't it along the lines of he told his partner that he would show how much he loved her and couldn't lose her by cutting himself or something similar?
I seem to recall something about him brandishing a knife in each hand. Was he threatening his girlfriend and her sister or something like that?

Not sure.

For some reason I think she was leaving him, and he had a knife and was saying he'd cut himself to prove how much he cared?

Hopefully a Weagles supporter can come in here and shed some light.

Spot on Kingy. Supposedly his grandfather told him to put the knife down and he did straight away. He was never going to hurt anyone (apart from himself).

Sampi fined

WEST Coast forward Ashley Sampi has received a fine and had recorded a 'spent conviction' in the Perth Magistrates Court after pleading guilty earlier this month to 'common assault and carrying a weapon with intent to cause fear' following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend and her sister.

Sampi, 22, was fined $750.

The incident came about when Sampi was accused of infidelity, but the court was told that that accusation has now been proved baseless.

Sampi's lawyer Peter Momber said 'loyalty was very important to my client'.

"He wanted to cut himself to show (his girlfriend) that he was loyal to her, to affirm his love to her, to show he would go through pain for her," Momber told the court.

The court had earlier heard Sampi had 'armed himself with a 20cm knife and went to his girlfriend's sister's house where he called for her to come outside. But she refused because she was afraid the knife would be used against her'. The court heard that Sampi stopped when his grandfather asked him to.

The court was also told that Sampi's girlfriend and her sister had 'regretted the incident and were (now) not fearful of him'.

The West Coast Eagles had supported Sampi throughout the issue, writing to the court that 'the AFL was a difficult environment for Indigenous footballers'.

It is also understood that Sampi is undergoing professional counselling over the self-harm issue.

I'd definately look to get him, especially if we could get him through the PSD. We need a quick, crumbing forward, it's as simple as that. There has been talk of quite a few on the board, I just hope we can land one of them.
