No no no, there's plenty of talent in our own state before we consider a bloke who was missing his family in the Broome region, we're a lot further away from Broome than Perth is, give a young local bloke a chance rather than someone who we know already has issues.

Far to many issues to be looked at, doesnt like being away from his family, lacks dedication, puts on weight very very easily, very poor stamina and has been given numerous chances by the eagles, not worth the risk.

TBH I would love him here. Would bond fantasically with Stiffy, which would be a MEGA plus, Macca could give him some guidance and stability, as would Craig. Discipline is what the kid needs, he has ounces and ounces of talent, and if he really wants another shot, give him a 1 year contract and let him play. He CAN pay back in aces, I would have confidence if this is true, that he will.

The first thing Adelaide would need to do is organise a flight over for him to have a meeting with Adelaide. Then invite him to train with us over the pre season. Neil Craig can then test his fitness levels and his mental state of mind.

if he ticks all the right boxes i say GET HIM! You just never know he could be the X Factor we have been looking for. We aren't giving up anything - except a spot in the squad. He can always just play in SANFL for a year and go home at the end of it - if the punt doesn't pay off.

offer him a 1 year contract

Jeez, if we do go down this path it would mean that his contract would have a "million" of clauses so we don't end up with a serious damage if thigs go pear-shaped.

One part of me says, get him down here for PS training, see where he is at and if he really wants to commit himself to fulfilling his undoubted talent. If he shows enough to suggest he is worth a punt, then sign him to a 1 year deal heavy with clauses.

The other part of me says, well WC are a pretty professional club and if they can't turn him around, what makes us think anyone else can.

He could be a high risk investment with potential high return but he also could be a major bust that not only destroys himself but also causes serious damage to the AFC.

This one would need some MAJOR analysis of pros and cons.

EDIT: Snap ^^

The other part of me says, well WC are a pretty professional club and if they can't turn him around, what makes us think anyone else can.

Successful doesn't mean professional. I expect if they were such a professional club they wouldn't be losing Judd.
Look at all the off field issues they've had of late. More than ANY other club. They've had plenty of success on-field, and are a very successful brand name, but that doesn't mean they're particularly good at dealing with players with issues. In fact, I'd say all evidence points to the contrary.

Guys, I think you are pretty naive to think that other clubs don't have very similar problems to what WC have. You only need to move in the "right circles" to realise that every club has same problems. Some are lucky enough for those things not to come out while others get shown up.

I have certainly seen a number of things over the years in this town that proves to me that no club is immune to what WC have gone through.

Ha ha. I would love for you guys to recruit ashley sampi to your famous forward line.
No doubt he would go on the long list of successful forwards you have recruited over the years, (eg Wayne Carey, Ronnie Burns, Ryan Fitzgerald, Daniel Schell).

It only makes sense that you should look for more small forwards when you have such a tall, imposing attack. Add in didak and your whole forward line can be under 5" 10.

Quick - someone call james fantasia! ha ha.

Oh, I agree that all clubs have similar problems, but I doubt we would have dealt with them as poorly as West Coast did, and a very much doubt that we have ever had the same amount of shit going on at our club that West Coast had over the last 24 months. Even so, at a club where there's a media shitstorm over just about half the list, it would be pretty easy for a player like Sampi to be forgotten and not get the help he needs.

If the comments on the main board are true about West Coast changing the locks so that Judd couldn't use his key to get into the training facility are true, they are not that professional....

Edit: seems to have been a throw away line from Judd at the press conference. Nothing to see here peoples. Move along ;)

He has been given a lot of help.

I really rate him, if his head was right and he was willing to shed the kilo's during pre season he would a bonus for your club. He has an X factor about him, I honestly have big concerns that he will leave the club and suddenly find himself motivated and be a very very good player.

It will be touch and go if he gets another chance with another club. If we choose to delist him (which we will) i hope he gets another crack, could pay big dividends for the club willing to give him a second chance.

Look sampi has never shown he's really good enough to even bother the hassle.

Did you ever see him play in about 03 and 04? Sure as hell showed a lot then, would be an excellent pickup for the Crows if they could get him right again.

No he didn't. He was patchy and inconsistent. Could look a million bucks one game (read: quarter) and then go utterly AWOL.

Given all his other problems and dramas, I really can't see he's worth all the time and effort.

Just another prodigious talent who pissed it all away. See Saliba, Cupido, Ross.

if hes dedicated on a return, it cant hurt to invite him to training...

just found out via the advertiser that sampi is back at west coast under a heavy training/fitness program. It looks very likely that west coast are going to offer him around during trade week.

I personally cant see anyone trading for him, but apparently he has attracted interest with 2 Melbourne based clubs and one interstate.

I think there is only 2 clubs that he would play for next year and they are both in WA.

yea i agree. I think freo could be half keen on sampi.

Apparently the two Melbourne based clubs keen on sampi are Essendon and Kangas.

I like Sampi, he has got some talent.

We have one of the best indigenous players of all time in McLeod. With McLeod as a mentor, may be it would be worth the risk, especially in the PSD. But would he want come?
