Back at work today and have just been talking to a CFS vollie who has been fighting the fires since Friday. Pretty amazing.

On another note, did anyone hear the Perth Glory fans having a go about the fires during the game last night. Must have only been a small pocket of campaigners but still a low act.

Grew up in Vista, and my parents still live there. I moved away before the Ash Wednesday fires in the early '80's but even now when I go back I can't help but notice how bare the hills seem compared to when I grew up and use to see them nearly every day. The undergrowth used to be so thick

I've only been here a couple of years but yea the anstey hill recreation park looks barren compared to black hill, the gorge & the morialta parks etc., still a nice walk up to the nursery ruins more trees and plants as you get further in.

Already a number of new fires have been sparked by lightning strikes.
lets hope this 50mil+ of rain in the next couple of days happens for all involved.

Gods speed to Rick and everyone involved. Looks like Mother Earth has sent down some rain to help out. Its so stressing when people you get to know are in trouble. I hope you are ok Rick, and all those around you.

Some beautiful rain this morning, and a lot more on the way, really hope it has fallen/falls heavy on the fire grounds. Looking at the radar it looks like it has been.

Problem is, with a fire like they have had, there is nothing to hold the water and it could become very ugly with a huge amount of rain in the area.

Yeah kids loved it face painting, jumping castle animals, great atmosphere. The food and wine/beer was decent and 50k raised is amazing it exceeded expectations
