We got at least 3 goals against the Blues purely by the big fella drawing a crowd that freed up the other forwards.
Exactly what Lynch does...dosent stop people rubbishing him as a forward.

Regardless, im talking about a strong reliable (the odd resulting crumb is not reliable and it could come from any contest) ruckman/forward who can provide a marking and leading option.

As I said, im not taking a stab...just want to see what the opinions of Freo fans are on this issue

Come on Rip....winning 70% of the taps and losing 70% of the centre clearances isn't just bad luck. There is clearly an inherent problem with the ruckman, the midfielders and/or the coaches.

Spot on. The fact is, if we're getting 50 taps a game it means nothing. Taps to advantage are what matters and it becomes incredibly frustating to see us winning the majority of the taps but a small minority of the clearances. These are set plays, and in my book theres only 2 possible problems

1) bad coaching plans
2) players not following the plans.

And it looks like 1) is the issue at the moment. Its the same with our kick-outs which seem to consistantly fall down under pressure. Thats a set play.

Taps are overrated and depend alot on the midfielder getting in front of their opponent, alot of stuff can happen that the ruckman is unaware of by the time he has tapped the ball. Sandi should smack/punch the ball forward, our midfielders should be forward and not behind him, that way the 'wrestle' for the ball happens in our forward zone.

If Sandi smacked/punched he'd get the ball everytime, and the opposition can't shark anything around the centre square.

Next time the toast are playing, pay close attention to their clearance strategy. Not that I know what it is, but for whatever reason Cox seems to be able to hit it straight to a teammate every second time. And they probably split the other half. So they destroy the opposition in the clearances. How do they do it?

Like I said in an earlier thread, it aint luck. It happens way too often for luck to have much of a part.

thats our problem either Sandi is dumb and doesnt have a plan B of smashing the ball when his Taps arent effective or the coach is dumb with no Plan B.
