This is great news for us! I just can't see where our next ruckman is coming from at this stage, having Sandi for at least another year should help for when we push back up the ladder.

Great news.

The big question is do you leave Sandi in cotton wool for the rest of the year.

Set him up for a big 2017, unless of course we perform a Lazarus in the next two months.

Good news. Sandi seems to be quite durable these days, impact injuries aside, and there is no reason he can't play on from what I have seen over the past season or so. We also need his physical presence out on the ground while we get games into the new generation. It's not as if there are any developing rucks who will be held back in their development and it may give the club time to find and begin to develop a better prospect than Hannath.

Having Sandi around for at least another year will help improve the way the club develops the younger players.

Pav also seems to be going better than most of our other players form wise this year. Not sure if he would go around again or even if he should but if he sticks to his guns and retires after this year at least we will be staggering the exit of our most senior players.

Jonno is the veteran who causes me the most worry as he has become very fragile over the past 2 to 3 seasons. Not sure on his contract status however and also doubt the club would make the call to move him on only on the basis of being injury prone. Vital player when fit however I am not sure he can go on much longer.

Johnson IMHO will retire at the end of the season if not before .His serious back injury last year is taking its toll on his aging body .
Get ready for a big cleanout of our list guys and girls because the new rule changes has made the game faster and we have too many role players and not enough speed .

The title, "Sandilands extends" is a worry, .................. brings up visions of him stretching out on his beach towel.

Anyway, great to see the big man extend his time at Freo.

The biggest thing to come out of Mt Barker.
Do they make beach towels that big? Or does Sandi just plop his head in the sand?

I think it would be valuable for him to return and play some footy, it is not the type of injury that should stop him from playing again this year. But of course with finals not being on the agenda, his return can be left until totally pain free.

Yep Johnson is a bit of a worry at the moment, think he has another year on his contract. If he wants to go around again and he thinks his body is good enough happy for him to stay though. His on ground performances are still high quality and he is very suited to the new free running game style.

Could easily see him going around after next year too.
