As Sandi is getting his hand on the ball so often, the other teams followers are working off him...should he occasionally belt the carp out of th ball to get it forward and break things up?

I put him in my best today. In the first half he was our link in the centre. He did everthing right, got position, took marks won taps played forward.

Not his fault our kickers cant hit targets and out midfeild cant get his taps.

You guys would have to be impressed with his development over summer.
Won't really happen but might have been worth a $10 brownlow bet.
Freo likely wont win enough games for him to get enough votes & attention.
All up, i think he'll be one of the top ruckmen this year for sure.

Mitchell read his tap work all day long, until the last quarter when Hasleby started to catch some....I agree, he should belt the crap out of the ball sometimes just to create a presence & get us going forward. He did okay, but was well & truly beaten in the 3rd quarter by Campbell.

Around the ground he was fine, but there is obviously a problem in the ballups. You can't get 2/3rds of the taps and lose 4/5ths of the clearances and say the ruckman had a good day. MOO a regular poster here a few months ago gave avery indepth analysis on how sandilands can improve his tap work and also our clearance problem. Maybe Sabre can find it and post it for the benifit of Broadbridge & co at FFC.

You can't necessarily say that unless you are acutely aware of the inner workings of the club. You're spot on that it is an easy game. Either Sandi isn't tapping it to the right position or the midfielders aren't where they're supposed to be. Or both. No idea which though.

In fairness to Sandilands, he did not have a Mitchell, Crawford, Hodge or Bateman to tap it to...(well maybe he did, but they weren't on his side).

These players are all outstanding hard ball winners, or at least do not take a backward step. We had Haselby, and that's it. Headland sort of tries hard, but that is not his game, unlike those Hawthorn blokes. J Carr is not the in and under dynamo he was at Port, Bell is good but he hasn't the strength to break tackles.

At the moment, I can't see anyone helping Hasleby out at the stoppages, all I know is that you cannot rely on one or two players to win all your clearances. Maybe swing Pav and the Wiz in there to give the opposition something to think about every now and then.

A dominant ruckman does not solve clearance issues, the players around him must be a bit more ferocious, and show some ticker.

Also, I thought Campbell gave Sandi a run for his money at the ball-ups - no easy taps to the big fella, and no armchair ride for the little blokes - whoever wants it most, will get it 9 times out of 10 no matter who wins the tap.

Maybe we do need Cookie back in there for some hardness? Would certainly have taken out Hodge and Mitchell at some point last Sunday if he had of got a game! A bit of physical work in the middle can turn a game in your favour sometimes!

At such a height him having the ability to reach the ball should mean that he should conerntrating on the placement, I would say its the midfeilders fault adjacent to Sandilands as well but over all I think that Sandilands might need a bit more confidence.

We need Cookie in there to set the example. It's pretty easy for blokes to try and get the easy possessions when every other player in the team is doing the same thing.
