For what their worth
www.afc.com.au Crows in the SANFL said:Fergus Watts (Eagles)
Another good performance from Fergus playing in defence. He looked very comfortable in his role and his overall game was very encouraging. He ran out of defence very well and was used on many occasions in setting up many Eagles forward movements. His marking was certainly a highlight of his game and if he wasn’t in a position to mark he always did the team thing and used a strong spoil to bring the ball to ground.

Mark Stevens (Eagles)
Mark would be one player who will come under close consideration for a recall to the Crows team this week after another top performance with the Eagles. His high work rate saw him gather many possessions in the Eagles forward line and his contested marking was very good. His effort to win the contested ball on the ground was first class as was his skill level.

Nathan Bock (Eagles)
Although not a high possession game from Nathan, he was still a contributor to the win with his strong defensive efforts. On most occasions he led his player to the ball, minimising his opponent’s influence of the contest. His clean hands in the contests were very impressive and along with Fergus provided plenty of drive from the backline.

Matthew Smith (Sturt)
Another solid performance from Matthew playing at centre half back. Didn’t win a stack of the footy, but he played a tight defensive game on his opponent and his consistent form with Sturt is a pleasing sign for Neil and the match committee.

Luke Jericho (West Adelaide)
In a team that was well beaten, Luke was one of the few West Adelaide players who could walk of the ground holding his head high. Playing in both defence and attack he battled hard all day and broke even with opponent when down back and certainly looked dangerous when shifted to the forward line. His overall skill level was very good and his strong attack on the ball saw him win some important contested possessions.

Kris Massie (Norwood)
Without a doubt this was Kris’ best game for the year. He was easily Norwood’s best player in a team that was flogged on the day. His outstanding work rate saw Kris gather plenty of possessions on the wing, in the middle and across half forward. He certainly looks to have regained his best form and his performance will surely see his named thrown around the selection table this week.

John Meesen (Norwood)
A fairly quiet day from the big man. Didn’t get too many opportunities to stamp his influence on the game when up forward because the ball wasn’t up there too often. When shifted into the ruck he was very competitive and got first hands on the footy at many stoppages.

Chad Gibson (Norwood Reserves)
Chad played well in the ruck, but as the game wore he started to run out of puff a little. He battled hard all day.
Scott Stevens (Port Adelaide)
Although beaten on the day, Scott refused to give in. Scott was Port’s main ‘go to’ man in attack and he took some strong contested marks, but seemed to lack the support of his fellow forwards. His attack on the footy was always strong and his skills very sound.

Chris Knights (Port Adelaide Reserves)
Playing as a midfielder, resting in on the half forward line, Chris had another solid game. His work rate was high and he ran the lines well to receive the footy and as a result was able to gather many possessions. His crumbing in the forward line was very good and he always looked capable of kicking goals while resting there.
Ivan Maric (Port Adelaide Reserves)
Playing in the important centre half forward position, Ivan’s competitiveness gave his teammates a real target to aim for. He was not afraid to throw his big body into the marking contests, which resulted in some strong grabs being taken. He was able to bring his teammates in the game with his clean hands and neat disposal.
Jonathon Griffin – Rookie (Centrals Reserves)
Another excellent performance from Jonathon. His is an excellent palmer of the football at the ruck contests and his ground skills, for a big man, are very good. His work ethic was tremendous and he gathered about 15 possessions for the game. His hand and foot skills were very good.
Ryan Nye – Rookie (North Adelaide)
Ryan produced his best since arriving at the Crows. Playing across half back he picked up more than 20 possessions and his skill level saw all his touches hit a teammate or used to the team’s advantage. After a bit of a slow start to the year, Ryan is showing some very promising signs with his footy.
