It looks as though ABC2 have made an absolutely baffling decision to not show mid week replays of these respective state leagues. For the last couple of years I know I have enjoyed watching the game of the week from all states.

As you all know I'm a mad follower of junior talent and apart from the U/18 National Championships this is the only opportunity I get to see SA and WA youngsters throughout the year. There are also many fans (like myself) that are based in a different state to their AFL club. This is close to my only chance to watch Crows players play SANFL throughout the season and I'm sure I wouldn't be alone with many fans supporting 'interstate' clubs. Apart from all that, it's more footy on the box and that can only be a good thing!

This is just a massive step backwards for football and the state leagues. Register your complaint at this address http://www.abc.net.au/tv/contact/abc2_form.htm. The worst thing is that it looks like they've replaced it with literally nothing. Late night screen test or something like that. Cost can't be the issue because they're replays of games that have already been broadcast into their home state.

Insert excuse here.....

We don't have any funding
We don't think it will rate even though we aren't chasing ratings
We don't have any funding
We are here to provide the service we think you want not the service you actually want.
We don't have any funding
The staff won't stay up late enough to change the tape over
We don't have any funding
The hamster spinning the wheel is asleep by then
We don't have any funding

Bloody bastards:mad:

Actually, LL's list has nothing to do with the decision. They made a policy decision that they wanted to differentiate between ABC1 & ABC2, with ABC2 becoming much more than just a station for repeating ABC1 shows.

There was a couple of largish threads which discussed this during the off-season on the main board:
ABC dump sport from FTA ABC2 programming - TAKE ACTION !
NTAFL on ABC2 TV ditched for 1970s Rugby League repeats

It was also discussed in the Douglas vs Pfieffer thread on this board.

Several people emailed the ABC and posted the responses they received, so check those threads (particularly the first one) if you don't mind letting some facts get in the way of your argument.

FWIW, I too am annoyed by the ABC's decision. Living in Canberra, it's the only time I ever get to see the mighty Redlegs in action. Now I don't even get that rare opportunity.

And after all the reasons and goings on the bottom line is they are replacing it with "station close".
I've dealt with the ABC on a professional basis on a few occassions in the past and there is a very good reason that the people in management there don't work elsewhere!

One of my friends works for the ABC and says much the same thing.
